Did Miley Cyrus Swipe a Song?
Miley Cyrus by Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage.com
Miley Cyrus has been accused of being a lot of things in recent weeks, but the latest stab is for alleged plagiarism. The rock band Lustra — we haven't heard of them either — is accusing Cyrus of ripping off their song "Scotty Doesn't Know," as her own in "Rockstar."
This all may be over, however, before it really starts. Cyrus' rep asserts that the superstar doesn't write her own songs. The allegation has been passed on to Disney, says PageSix.
It seems that Miley's success is making her a bigger target every week. Is she the victim of a fame-hungry music act, or could her songwriters have let their love of Eurotrip — the launchpad for Lustra's song in question — take them too far away from originality? — Anna Dimond

She sings??? I didn't know she sang. I thought she was in hiding from the evil Annie Lebowitz and Hugh Hefner, who apparently made it their mission (after decades establishing their own careers) to exploit her mercilessly.
A year ago, I was saying Miley Who??? I am guessing a year from now, I will be saying the same thing.

Okay I'm a fan of both, I'll be honest. And it wasn't until just now I made that connection. The opening of the HM song does sound a LOT like Lustra's. The timing is fairly different though, and I think there was a key chain. No matter what it isn't her fault. And I will say I think it would be funny if Disney had to pay, because I think they tend to think themselves as gods. Still, Vanilla Ice got away with it..... Mostly, who cares? They're just out to ruin Miley before she really gets started. It's kinda a theme of late.

Did you mean key change?
And what was that stuff about Vanilla Ice? If you're talking about him sampling Pressure by Queen, he had permission to do that.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Vanillia Ice did not have a licensing agreement to use under pressure for Ice Ice Baby. He used it without permission. The only reason the case didn't go to court was a substantial out of court settlement for the copyright holders of "Under Pressure".

Hmm, I did not know that, Kelly. The 12" EP I have says "Used with permission". I guess I'm the one with "a little knowledge" this time.

Of course she doesn't write her own songs. Just like any other of these no talent "pop stars" who only know how to lip synch.

I do think it's funny that Disney may have to pay as they are the first to protect their copyrights. They have gone after everyone for using their character likenesses, even schools! They sue everyone. Which, I guess is their right, but now the shoe might be on the other foot!

As the mom of a Tween, I was dragged to the HM movie. In the movie (for the parts I tuned in to), they made a great to do about the fact that HM writes her songs. Now her rep is saying she does not. It matters to me none, whether she swiped the song or not,if anything, it is giving publicity to a band I and I am sure many others have never heard off, but I was glad to hear that HM was more than just a Disney money machine and could go on to have a career when she outgrows Disney. I will confess that the one song they play by her on mainstream radio- I listen to (maybe even enjoy a little..). All the recent publicity about this child is exactly that- publicity. I hope her parents do the right thing and protect her..

So the movie says HANNAH MONTANA writes her own songs? Well, duh, since there is NO Hannah Montana and the article that started these comments was about Miley Cyrus, what did you prove by even printing that? Just leave Miley alone. I think most people who complain so much about someones achievements are the most jealous people on the planet. Get over it and get on with your life and make your own achievements. Then let's see how you'd like it if people started cutting you down.

ALSO- DOES ANYONE KNOW THAT SONG THAT STARTS- "I WEAR MY SUNGLASSES AT NIGHT..".... WELL THE SONG SOUNDS LITERALLY THE EXACT TUNE AS HER SONG THAT STARTS "I'VE GOT MY SIGHT SET ON YOU.." OR HOWEVER THE LYRICS GO, IM NOT POSITIVE ON THOSE. BUT ANYONE ELSE AGREE? I'M NOT A FAN OR ANTI-FAN,ITS JUST ALWAYS ON THE RADIO AND I THINK THAT EVERYTIME I HEAR IT!

It probably would be a good idea for Miley Cyrus to lock herself away in her house for a couple of years. At least if she does that, she may get a break from the new blame game she's the target of. Since the Disney studios are the ones now accused of this (per PageSix--? How reputable are they?) why does your headline say "Did Miley Cyrus Swipe a Song?" Is this to stir up comments from people--or to take another swipe at a 15 year old kid? Entertainment news is one thing, playing Perez Hilton wannabes is quite another.
