Michelle Williams Breaks Silence About Heath Ledger: "My Heart Is Broken"

In her first public statement since his death, Heath Ledger's former partner, Michelle Williams, said her "heart is broken."
In a statement released to the AP, Williams also asked for privacy during this time, saying, "Please respect our need to grieve privately. My heart is broken." She continued, "I am the mother of the most tenderhearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father. All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day.
"His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees, hugs animals, and takes steps two at a time, and we know that he is with us still," Williams added. "She will be brought up in the best memories of him."
Williams and Ledger, who met on the set of Brokeback Mountain in 2005, later lived together in a Brooklyn brownstone with their daughter until splitting up in 2007. — Anna Dimond

Wow. The whole statement is even better than the part quoted in the news story. Thanks for posting that, roxymarie.

I'm not a very feminine gay guy, but that quote about her little girl talking to animals and such almost brought me to tears here alone at my computer. I wish I could do something to bring Heath back for the two of them.

I agree this has to be the most tender hearted and wonderfully written statement from a celebrity. My hearts goes out to Michelle and Matilda.

That is a beautiful statement. There's nothing like the wonderment of childhood and it's tragic that Heath won't be a part of Matilda's life going forward. And it's true, that kid is the spitting image of him.
The statements reads nicely as one paragraph but everything was in the original story posted by tv guide. You just have to read it all the way through

My heart goes out to Michelle and Matilda. Even though she and Heath were no longer together, Michelle obviously still cared deeply about him. I trust that Michelle will raise their daughter to know the wonderful things about Heath that made Michelle love him.
