TV Guide has a new frenemy: Michael Ausiello is joining Entertainment Weekly, after eight fantastic years as our resident scooper.

"Michael has been a great reporter and a great friend," says TVGuide.com editor-in-chief Christy Tanner. "We wish him the best, and promise that we won’t miss a beat delivering all the great scoop you’re used to on TVGuide.com."

EW grabbed Mikey! You bastards!!!

It's funny that this should happen, because this weekend, I was going through some old Seinfeld tapes (to tape over them) and watching those old episodes made me consult my two Seinfeld Bibles! One was the "Seinfeld Forever" magazine published by TV Guide, and the other was The Entertainment Weekly Seinfeld Companion. Funny thing is...that EWSC was written by...(gasp)...BRUCE FRETTS...who now works at TV Guide!

As far as I'm concerned, it's all good. There are TWO entertainment bibles in my book. One is TV Guide (even though we can't get YOUR magazine here in Canada...somebody do something about that!!!!), and the other is Entertainment Weekly (which Canadians CAN get...HINT HINT!).

As pathetic as this may sound, even though EW approaches its 1000th issue this summer, I HAVE EVERY ISSUE carefully stored away in my archives here in the TV Gord museum (yes, ladies, he's STILL single). Yet I don't sign on with the EW blogs. It's tvguide.com or bust for me!

Michael, I'll follow you anywhere ('ceptin' the bedroom, LADIES....[groan], but in this case, you're just crossing the street to my OTHER favorite publication. I am THRILLED for you! I'm THRILLED for Entertainment Weekly! It tells me that they are as committed to covering TV as ever. I am at the newsstand every Thursday morning to get the latest issue and I devour it before 9am! Now, though, I may have to savor it a bit longer.

As for tvguide.com, I have neglected Matt Roush, so maybe I'll check him out more now. I have been a fan of MWM and Bruce's Cheers and Jeers for some time now, and THAT won't change.

Speaking of change...CHANGE is always good. Mikey will be re-energized, this website will, too. As far as I'm concerned, we readers are the ones who will benefit. MORE STUFF FROM TWO GREAT SOURCES!!!

I know there will be naysayers who follow, but I get the first word on this thread and I set the tone by saying, ALL THE BEST TO MICHAEL, long live tvguide.com. We ALL win!!!

Bye, Mikey. And hello. :)

Wow, that is pretty shocking! I think he first sucked me into TVGuide.com back in his early days hosting this column. He will be missed...

It's very upsetting since Mike, Roush and Mitovich are the main reasons I come here every day.

I feel dead inside! :_|

Ooh, I hope this means that EW has finally fired that talentless hack Ken Tucker.

Oh No! While I get EW delivered at home, their website is blocked for me at work (don't ask me why!). What am I going to do now?

Althought congrats on the new job :)

I don't know what to think--I get EW, but for whatever reason, rarely visit their website. I'm here daily, but the magazine is less and less relevant to me. Is Mike going to have an "Ask Ausiello"-type blog over there? If so, I might actually have to add EW to a start tab. What happens to the scoop on this site? I still miss the Televisionary, who was never really replaced.

Anyway, congrats, Mike! I hope you enjoy your new job.

What the frak? No more Smurfs? No more Diet Raspberry Snapple? No more Ausholes? No more poop/scoop/prattle? No more blind items that spin bloggers fingers into a tizzy? No more asterisk quizzes? No more begging for USC tickets? No more plugging Tasti D-Lite? No more "Ask Ausiello"????????????? You will be missed, Michael! :8}

Wow! That shocked me. I had to look at the calendar and make sure today wasn't April 1st! Congrats Mikey!!! I first started coming here to read his column and slowly ventured out into todays news and Matt Roush. Then I was introduced to the community blogs and met a lot of great people over there so my time started being spent more and more over there and less on this side. Good luck to you Mike!

So, does this mean the position's open?

I kid. Congrats, Mike, and I'll just have to read two entertainment websites a day now.

Oh my Goodness, I knew today was gonna be a great day. Good Riddance Spoiler King. Since I don't subscribe to EW I won't ever have to be spoiled prematurely just to put a paycheck in somebody's pocket. I'm gonna go throw a frickin' party!!!!! Meanwhile EW is the worst mag around (which is why I stopped subscribing
