Report: Photographer Hurt by Surfers While Filming McConaughey

Forget bodyguards. Matthew McConaughey can apparently rely on a bunch of surfer dudes to do his dirty work.

The New York Daily News reports a photographer trying to take some video of McConaughey on a Malibu beach over the weekend was accosted by several surfers, who then tossed his video camera into the ocean. "There was apparently a fight, and the photographer gave a statement that he received injuries," an LAPD spokesman said.

TMZ.com posted video of the incident, in which the surfers are seen going after several other photographers as well.

The News quotes one of the beachgoers as saying, "I just drink beer and party" when asked by a photographer what he does for a living. — J.R. Whalen

With story after story building an image of McConaughey as a stoned bongo-playing surfer dude, why is he still taken seriously as an actor (especially considering the fact that he hasn't made a good movie since A Time to Kill)?

On a related note, anyone who actually paid to see either Failure to Launch or Fool's Gold should be prohibited from voting in the next election.

Hilarious! I would love to see more of this! Random members of the public going after the papa-smearers!

Maybe if their lives were truly on the line once in a while, more camera people would realize it's just not worth the 12-thousandth picture of this guy with his shirt off. I mean, it's the same chest everytime...what's that definition of insanity again? Taking the same picture over and over again, expecting a different chest.

They wouldn't sell the pictures or even exist if people didn't buy the crappy rags they are in or watch shows like ET.

Well, Gord is a healthy guy -- I'm sure he's in the ballpark, at the very least.

I, on the other hand, am in a whole other town because I thought it was an away game.

Well, just based on your comments--my imagination says you must be close:-x (My imagination doesn't do too well with some sports analogies--then it goes to the "fire bad, tree pretty" area--and all becomes lost)

Most people who know me would be flabbergasted that I recognized one (trust me on that!) I wasn't kidding about "fire bad, tree pretty" with regards to sports! (With the exception of the Kentucky Derby--I do know which end wins the race!:^O)
