<I>Mars</i> Mission Adds a Meaney, More Casting News

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Colm Meaney is in final talks to join fellow Celt Jason O'Mara in David E. Kelley's Life on Mars pilot, the Reporter reports. Meaney would play Detective Hunt, the homicide-unit boss who clashes with O'Mara's transplated-in-the-'70s PI.... Kevin Federline's babymama Shar Jackson will guest on Everybody Hates Chris this season, says People, playing a young mom with a wayward teen daughter.... Jon Seda, who was originally to fill a supporting role in HBO's The Pacific WWII mini, has been promoted to play one of the three leads.

Oh, this could be fun. I wasn't planning on watching Life on Mars, but if Colin Meaney is going to be part of it, I'll at least check it out.

Oh yes! Colm Meaney as Gene Hunt could just turn this remake into must-see TV.

Colm Meaney would be great as Gene Hunt. I really hope he gets the part.

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking!

I loved the BBC version - I really hope that David Kelly get's this right! The BBC version was a bit dark (like a lot of BBC shows) for my tastes but this should never be a comedy or even a "dramedy". It needs to be moody, tragic, with some humor thrown in. If it were done like Rescue Me I would love it!

I hated the idea of this show. But now with Colm Meaney in the cast, I kind of want to check it out!

While I love the idea of Colm Meany as DCI Hunt (DCI?), why not just have them all speak in their own accents and call it a remake. Is this supposed to take place in the United States?

I wanted to watch this anyway, since the BBC series interested me but I don't have the channel. But with Colm Meaney in the show, my interest is even higher. I just hope that it isn't Kelley-ized. No dancing babies.
