Love Notes: Brangelina and TomKat Updates
New details on Angelina's latest acquisition: According to the AP, Jolie plans to adopt from Vietnam a 3- to 4-year-old boy whom she picked out during a recent visit to the Tam Binh orphanage. The boy will move to the United States with her in no more than three months.
Over in the country of TomKat, meanwhile, the New York Post's Page Six hears that Cruise has informed the producers of Kate's new film, Mad Money, that "he will be on set every day" — but only to "observe" and not stare down any manly leading men, seeing as the female heist comedy costars Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton. (The talk is that Holmes bailed on the Batman Begins sequel because of intimate scenes she would have had with Christian Bale, and that Cruise was responsible for Kate's sex scene "mysteriously vanishing" from festival screenings of Thank You for Smoking.)

Tom stalking Katie's set sounds very strange. I bet if she did have a love scene, he'd be on set while it shot. And I read about the new compound they're supposedly buying. Talk about control!

"latest acquisition" ??? wow. I read back through the previous posts that were linked to this one, and there were many comments that seemed disapproving of Angelina and Brad's adoptions, which I happen to think are very admirable. But no matter what you think of their actions, a child is NEVER an "acquisition". I applaud Angelina's actions in adopting AND being a very hands on and responsible parent from what we can see in the media. Not only does she spend time with her children, she also donates to the region from which they came, and so far in the case of Mad, teaches him about his birth country and his culture. So what if they have three kids under 5? There are many people with less who have more kids - and many people with money who just have one kid that is nanny or boarding school raised. My grandmother had 14 children (actually 18, but 4 died before age 1) and all were born pretty much within a year of each other. They were raised in a 4 bedroom house in rural Newfoundland Canada and they were NOT people with money. But my mother and my aunts and uncles are great people and a close family. So, is it jealousy that causes us to lash out at someone who from all appearances is only doing good, and who is doing it for good reasons? We can't find anything to pick on them for so we talk down even when they do good? this is beyond frustrating to me.
Ok - vent/rant done. Off soapbox now.

How does one pick a kid? I guess she spoke to them and saw which ones she vibed with. It must be hard to say no to all but one.

Maurine, I totally agree. How do you choose only one and leave the others behind?
I had neighbors who wanted to adopt one child, but ended up with two because the children had bonded at the orphanage. They said it was the best decision they ever made.

I'm with you Newfiegal - "acquisition" kind of jumped off the page and hit me in the face, forcing me to stare in awe at the astounding use of the word. By definition, an acquisition is the "buying or obtaining of an asset or object." I suppose if you're comfortable with referring to a human life as an asset or object than that's okay, but it's definitely not something that I'm used to...

Woohooo! Finally a frakking benefit to TomKat's existence. If Tom kept Katie from being in the Batman sequel, we ALL win! At least those of us who love Batman.
