Loser Gains a Soap Star
Days of Our Lives vet Alison Sweeney is replacing Caroline Rhea as host of NBC's The Biggest Loser, Variety is reporting. Rhea, who has fronted the weight-loss compeition since Day 1, has moved on "to pursue other interests," says the network. The hiring of Sweeney, meanwhile, says exec producer Ben Silverman, "will bring not only a great fresh face, but [also] a huge, loyal fan base." Heck, based just on the evil twins and illegitimate children who may start tuning in, the ratings could go up 10 percent.

Bah! Caroline Rhea was one of my main reasons for watching the occasional episode.

I like Rhea. I like Sweeny. Neither could get me to watch the show.

If they needed a new host.... maybe they should have had all candidates go thru what the contestants do... and the winner gets the job.. lol

My mother wondered why Rhea was a host of a weight-loss show. Rhea needed to also be a contestant.
I love Ali. Anyone who watches Days knows that Ali has gone through her own weight challenges so she can understand what the contestants are going through. I hope it doesn't interfere with her Days' gig!

I am so happy for Allison. She is great! I know a lot of Days of our Lives fans will tune in to support her. She is perfect for the gig. This is a good move by NBC. Hopefully it will improve the ratings for The Biggest Loser and Days of our Lives!

lol, JenJen.
I too like Caroline. And I've always been a fan of Alison and Days... but I don't know if I'd watch The Biggest Loser.

Maurine, I'm with you and your mom. Rhea seemed to be gaining weight with each season. I hope Alison does well. She is looking great these days.

I'm glad NBC appreciates the loyal fan base of soap opera viewers. Is that why they cancelled Passions?

Alison Sweeny lost a good amount of weight several years back. She will be a good hostess. I liked Rhea too, but I love Ali and I'm glad to hear she isn't leaving Days.

I think if I were on the show as a contestant, my biggest challenge would be to stop calling Allison, "Sami"... because I would...all the time.

I love that they are bringing Alison Sweeney in as host. Caroline Rhea was a terrible host, overweight on a show about losing weight. Alison Sweeney is a doll who went though losing a lot of weight and kept it off. Hooray for the producers for finally getting it right!!

This is a great idea. I did love the first host, but Allison deserves a primetime spot. She got herself into great shape and looks better than ever. She has a loyal fan base, but she is also extremely loyal to her fans. She is always going out of her way to be a positive role model for her fans. GREAT CHOICE!
