NBC Applies More Lipstick

NBC has ordered an additional six episodes (for a total of 13) of Lipstick Jungle, its frothy freshman drama based on the book by Candace Bushnell.

After three airings, Lipstick is winning its Thursdays-at-10 slot among women 18-49, women 18-34 and men who like seeing Kim Raver fake sexual ecstasy with that whole biting-the-lower-lip thing. Oh yes.

I watch Lipstick jungle and while Kirby is worth watching - the show is o...kay, nothing spectacular. But there isn't anything else to watch. Give me Friday Night Lights over this crap any day!

Yeah well, lets just see if the ratings are still great when new episodes of Without a Trace start airing again. In my opinion Eli Stone is much better than this crap of a show.

Maybe I am watching a different Lipstick Jungle but I find it to be flat, poorly written, poorly acted and poorly shot. I have no feelings for the characters at all who have no personality or energy. It also is far to heavy with no sense of humor. I will take Cashmere Mafia any day - better acting, better writing and much more real characters.

By "9" I meant 13. Now if we were in Germany....

I thought they ordered scripts not episodes.

But even if it's episodes...where are they gonna air? Isn't ER coming back to the timeslot?

The only reason I'm watch this show right now is because

A) There is nothing on right now. Like hell I'm gonna watch this show once all my shows are back in April (BSG, Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, The Office, Lost, FNL (if it came back...but its not coming back :( .

B) I miss GOSSIP GIRL! However, Lipstick Jungle is not even close to GG. Lipstick Jungle just don't catch the essence of NYC like Gossip Girl does.

HOwever I will say that LJ is SLIGHTLY better than Cashmere Mafia. However I don't see CM or LJ lasting more than one season.

I can't bear to watch the show to find out so maybe someone can tell me...I can't tell from the zippy promos but hsa Kim Raver had that lopsided nostril thing fixed? It looks like she might have. Just asking.

Ugh...I suppose there's no accounting for taste. I'm pretty sure they're wasting their money though, as this show is only putting up halfway decent numbers because there is nothing else on these days. Put it up against real competition and I'll bet it gets trounced.

This just shows once again, Ben Silverman is an idiot!! I cannot believe NBC would renew this crap and NOT renew something that is worth watching like FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS!!!

YES! 6 more weeks of seeing Paul Blackthorne.

I don't care about the rest of the show. I'll take it.

Of course they have ordered new episodes. They cancel the brilliant series, like Journeyman and keep a stale, trite, boring, show like this on. Whose running this network anyway. The NBC/USA people also cancelled the 4400, and the Dead Zone, so I'm not at all surprised they would leave a snooze fest like this on.

Between all the contrived, cockneyed sayings, like "if woman are successful, they're *****", and blah, blah it's a real, real, poor imitation of SATC., We've heard it all before. Candace Bushnell is so full of these cliches, where does she get them from bubble gum wrappers? And a great actor like Mr. Blackthorn reduced to this, and made to look like a bum from the ghetto. I mean his hair, his clothes, he's unshaven, and he is supposed to be the husband of a successful woman? He looks terrible. He looked the same on his short lived sci fi series and I always wondered why any stylist would have him look that way. All around, this is a dull and contrived series.

Lipstick Jungle is just an example of the poor decisions NBC is making these days and why my husband and I a tuning in other channels. We enjoyed Journeyman and Friday Night Lights -- they were entertaining as well as having positive messages; while they showed people with human weaknesses who made mistakes, they also showed how honesty and values could pay off for you. While Lipstick Jungle is mildly entertaining, it certainly doesn't show much in the way of morals and values.

The lip biting thing that Kim Raver does is exactly the reason I'm not watching anymore. That, and the lame acting :-D.
Give me Jonny Lee Miller and Victor Garber in Eli Stone anytime!
I love that show. Jonny is so adorable.
