Life on Mars to End for David E. Kelley?

Make no mistake, ABC is high on giving Life on Mars — its long-in-the-works adaptation of the BBC series — a slot on its fall schedule. It's now just a matter of whether David E. Kelley will stick with the project he has shepherded thus far. Sources say that "financial considerations" are influencing Kelley's possible departure, and that October Road's Josh Applebaum, Andre Nemec and Scott Rosenberg are in queue to assume show runner duties.

ABC's Life on Mars stars Jason O'Mara (In Justice) as a 21st-century detective transported back to the 1970s. — MWM

So, in the ABC universe, the most logical replacements for the producer of such esteemed shows as L.A. Law, Picket Fences, Ally McBeal, The Practice and Boston Public are the people responsible for October Road (Hard and Put Up Wet)?

Well, there shouldn't be any "financial considerations" there -- as producers, those three are worthless.

I'm not particularly excited about this version anyway -- too many U.S. remakes that sucked (Coupling) and I didn't care for Jason O'Mara when I saw him in The Agency -- but even I have to agree. While only one David E. Kelley show has ever really interested me, I will fully admit the man knows exactly what he's doing, and I can't understand how this is the best they could get. Hrm.

They're replacing the multiple award-winning Kelley with the nobodies at freakin' October Road???

I won't be watching.

I will not be watching. I loved the series on BBC America and have no need to see a remake when the original was great.

I love Jason O'Mara, so I'll be giving this show a shot. I've never watched the british version, so it will all be new to me. Hopefully, it will be good.

Hey NBC had a great time travel show this year which they IMHO unwisely decided to cancel. maybe ABC could just get Journeyman.

I am pleased to see LOM finally coming to television. Jason is one of my favorite actors and I wish him the best on his new series. Paige Turco has to be one of the luckiest ladies in the world to be married to this handsome man. Goodness, look at that adorable picture of him…
