« Today's News: Our Take
Letterman vs O'Reilly, Round 2
Tonight's Late Show face-off between David Letterman and Bill O'Reilly — their first since January, when Dave called the Fox News front man 60 percent full of "crap" — offers more acrimony, despite a bid by Bill to nip their beef in the bud. In a tape previewed by the New York Post's Page Six, Letterman calls O'R a "bonehead," then provokes the pundit by citing the "heinous, dangerous violence in Iraq." O'Reilly takes issue with the characterization of President Bush as "an evil liar," to which Dave responds, "You're putting words in my mouth, just the way you put artificial facts in your head."
Good times. Watch the rest tonight on CBS.

I don't normally watch Letterman, but since Colbert isn't on, I'll watch his "counter-part" square off with Letterman.

Thanks for the heads-up, Matt. I've been looking forward to Dave wiping the floor with that blow hard all week. I'm sure it'll be a "fair and balanced" interview.
BTW, I'm sure glad I check the keep me logged in box...EVERYTIME I want to post. Huh?

Too bad O'R wants to enter a battle of wits unarmed.

Dave Letterman used to be a favorite of mine . . . when I saw his first interview with O'Reilly, I saw him as a total ass -- rude AND ignorant. I can't keep that image out of my mind and can't watch him anymore. He's not "witty", he's just incredibly rude.

I :PVE David Letterman and I have nothing against Mr. O'Reilly except that he is a pompous, hypocritical, blow hard.He makes honest Republicans look bad. I am glad Dave is going to give him a piece of his own medicine and I hope he treats Bill with as much respect as Bill treats his guests.

We used to watch CBS News with Dan Rather until his fiasco with the false documents about Pres Bush. Used to really like Letterman and have still watched him since he was so rude to Bill the last time. After tonight, the pillow may be more inviting than watching him. He will never be able to hold his own in an all out debate with Bill. As always, Bill was the gentleman, Dave was the jerk.

Yeah, O'Reilly really swept the floor with Letterman the last time they met. O'Reilly had the perfect comeback when Letterman said 60% of what O'Reilly says is crap. What was O'Reilly's response to that? Oh yeah, HE DIDN'T HAVE ONE...
Come on, I know Letterman is a TV veteran, but the fact that O'Reilly cannot even respond to a political amateur shows that Bill is not up to snuff.

I am a huge Dave fan, but even I have to admit he hasn't been funny in a long, long time. His humor is so absurdist lately, but I can't help but think his team is going that route in lieu of actually working on something funny.
Where David excels, though, is in this kind of confrontation! Say what you want about him, but you have to admit his anger at blowhards like O'Reilly is sincere...and it's good television. I don't blame O'Reilly fans for "claiming" not to watch tonight. They have such a hard time dealing with the truth.
By the way, bmp956 makes a good point. That "always keep me logged in" box never works for me, either. Not since the changeover a few weeks ago.

Yeah!! Right on Dave!! How this obnoxious phony O'Reilly got to be so 'popular' is beyond me, he's such an ignorant falafel. Bonehead indeed.
