L&O Signs Vet, Intent Stars; But Who's the New ADA?
Thanks for this update, Matt. I'm assuming that S. Epatha Merkerson will be back? I hope so since the series has unceremoniously tossed its only other female lead on this show in Melina Govich.......
Bring back Stephanie March as ADA!

I have to "second" the idea that they bring back "Alex Cabot", a.k.a. Stephanie March. Given Jack's rather liberal leanings having someone more in line with the Arthur Branch approach to the law would create a great balance for the show. I know that the last time we saw her on SVU she was being sent back into witness protection but hopefully she has "served her time" and the badies that she is hiding from (was it the Russian mob?? the ones behind the IRA assassin she testified against?? can't recall)have long since "faded silently to black"!
I remain a loyal and devoted viewer of all the LOL shows--but does any one else feel that the original lost its heart when Jerry Orbach passed away???

Dick Wolf might not have to break the bank to get Whitford. If Brad wants to move to New York (and, let's face it, most everyone who acts in LA dreams of coming to NYC because it's so alive), then it may be easier to get him to sign than you think.
Both he and his wife have Broadway bona fides, so they're used to living in the city. I say he'd be foolish to turn down any fairly reasonable offer if it wouldn't be too much for his family.

Wasn't Stephanie March's "Alex Cabot" character brought back for the L&O spinoff "Conviction"? Presumably she is out of witness protection.

I don't understand why they even need to replace Arthur Branch's character.
The DA character doesn't really do much on the show, so I don't see why they couldn't just reference Branch (or his replacement) off-screen and keep McCoy in his current position as EADA and main character.
Couldn't McCoy's assistant just walk into the room and tell him "Branch says we must do such-and-such"?

How can you "bring back" Stephanie March's character when she was never on L&O? You guys are getting your L&O shows mixed up - she was SVU.

Brambrae, I agree. It hasn't been the same for me since the great Jerry Orbach passed away.
I kinda hope they don't get Bradley Whitford. He was getting on my last nerve on "West Wing". But maybe this new part will change my mind. I wouldn't mind seeing one of Jack's former assistants returning.

Ooh... Bradley Whitford on L&O? It would finally give me a reason to watch the mothership again. (I stopped watching when Jerry Orbach passed away.) The only L&O show I watch faithfully is SVU, which is where Alex Cabot (Stephanie March) was before she went into the WP program.
I'd watch BWhitford read me the telephone book.

I read last week that S. Epatha Merkerson "will probably stay with the show," though that same report said that Jesse L. Martin was "being replaced" by Jeremy Sisto. I'd like to see Alex Cabot on the mothership, if nothing else than to provide a familiar face. Transitions can be rough. But then, there is nothing constant in life except change.

Stephanie March would be my ideal person to work in the DA's office, in place of McCoy. She has already been a part of 2 different L&O series, so she is already part of the family. Having her join the show, would also get SUV folks into the fold, might spice up the stories. And who wouldn't want to see Judith Light as Judge Elizabeth Donnely, she is a familier face on SVU.

Robinepowell:
Stephanie March was on "L&O: SVU" but her character was working for the same boss as Jack McCoy--and there were several cross-over episodes during her time on the show, so it was sort of like one big family--and it would be great to see her "return" to "L&O". Bradley Whitford would also have me watching every week.

The best assistant to Jack was Abby Carmichael, hands down. She had the perfect balance of smarts, sarcasm and emotional objectivity. She was the female Jack!

Oh, and boo-hoo-hoo for Noth, Erbe and D'Onofrio. I hope they can survive on their nearly $4 million annual salary. In the famous words of a noted and much celebrated singer/songwriter, "Cry me a river" already.

Before anyone - including myself - gets too excited about the possibility of Bradley Whitford joining L&O, remember this: according to published interviews, BW had intended on taking a break from TV after TWW ended and only signed on for S60 because it was helmed by Sorkin and couldn't pass up the opportunity to work with Sorkin again.
BW recently - on June 7th - told Michael Ausiello's frememy Kristin Veitch "I was actually not looking to do a show right after West Wing, so I'm looking forward to a break." If you want to read her interview with BW (who, I keep forgetting, is pretty funny), you can find it in her column over at that other site.
