Kristen Bell's To-Die-For New Role

Where isn't the erstwhile Veronica Mars these days? Besides acting villainous on Heroes and spreading rumors as Gossip Girl's narrator, she's been signed to play one of the leads in the upcoming video game Assassin's Creed. The game's publisher won't reveal her character but does admit that she'll play a pivotal part in the bit that takes place during the Crusades in the 12th century. I'm thinking Joan of Arc? History buffs, back me up on this.

Tuesday's news was written by Ben Katner.

Joan of Arc lived in the early 15th Century and had nothing to do with the Crusades. Her war was the Hundred Years' War between France and England. So, no.

What ever Kristen does, this girl is there. She's like my new SMG and I just adore her!

Kind of old news, since IGN reported on it back in Dec., but the game does come out next week, so all the publicity is nice! The game looks phenomenal.

If anyone is interested in reading about the game in an interview Kristen did back in Dec, here is the link to the page that talks about it: http://tv.ign.com/articles/750/750843p3.html

I could see it...but the only problem with that is Joan of Arc lived later than the Crusades.

Just watched a video with the producer of the game and she said that Kristen is playing a character named Lucy (so not Joan of Arc, who lived like 300 years after the game time period), but she didn't go into detail about what Lucy was about. She said they want to keep that one of the secrets for the gamer to experience while playing.

Ben, dude, I'm sorry, but the whole embarrassing Joan of Arc goof could have been prevented with just a little trip down Google Lane. Being a history buff with a particular interest in Joan of Arc, I didn't require that to know that you were at least two centuries off in connecting the time of the Crusades with Joan. In English history the crusades are shortly after Henry II's reign whereas Joan of Arc was concurrent with Henry VI's reign in England.
