Kim Cattrall's Gettin' Paid!

Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City: The Movie by Craig Blankenhorn/New Line Cinema
No ensemble cast is immune to having one star earn a bigger paycheck than the rest, but according to the New York Post's rumor mill, that didn't stop Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall from asking for a little more green in her designer handbag.

Apparently, Cattrall held out for more money when negotiating her role in the franchise's upcoming movie. Although her rep contends "it was a complicated time in Kim's life" that delayed her signing on, Page Six is reporting that Kim's been buzzing to her friends that she demanded more money, which she claims also benefited the bank accounts of costars Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.

Do you think Cattrall's suffering from Sarah Jessica Parker envy? Guess we'll just have to see whose Manolos are flashiest at the premiere. — Adam Bryant

SJP may be the voice of Sex and the City but Cattrall is definitely the body. She showed her stuff more than any other cast member during the series and I'm betting she doesn't hold back for the film version. It might not seem like the best move but I think its warrented. Besides, it ain't like they're doing another Manequin movie anytime soon.

It would not be Sex and the City if you are missing one of the ladies. Everyone has their favorite. They all deserve a chunk of the money. Kim's storyline the last couple of seasons was amazing. The show was about all four of them. I feel like the movie is only going to be about Carrie and Big.

I think all of them deserve equal pay. Samantha was my favorite out of the 4. And I agree kcp726 that the whole movie will be about Carrie and Big.

Sex and The City is my favorite. I watch the reruns every night. The Ladies are all Fantastic and they all deserve the monies that they are intitled too. Yes, you are right I hope the movie is not about Carrie and Big. I hope the story line is about all of the ladies and that Carrie and Big do get married and Samantha and Smith Jarret. Samantha deserves a lot of happiness too.

Good for Kim for believing in her own worth and of the importance of her character, Samantha, to the entire universe that is Sex in the City. Nothing wrong with negotiation; we all do that when we're in the running for a job. And she was proven correct, because apparently they met a price she could live with. Good for Kim!

Each of the other three ladies - specifically Kim & Cynthia - should have been paid more than SJP all along.

Shouldn't the more talented actors make the better coin?

Nothing wrong with trying to get paid what you think you are worth. And if they ended up paying her more then apparently someone besides herself thought she was worth it too.

I don't think this movie will be all about Carrie and Big. I think it will be a big part of it but no more than the tv show was.

Yes in a way. I know the show is about the four women, but SJP was and is clearly the lead. It was pretty clear how KM felt about the show, especially during the last season when she was never with any of the cast and the snub she gave the three women during HBO's Emmy after party. I think the only person who should make the big bucks is Cynthia Nixon, she's so talented. I think she's had the best career moves since Sex ended. As for KM, she's most likely baring it all, which she does in almost everything, except she ain't no Helen Mirren. She doesn't need any more money for that. Almost every actress now a days bares it all, they don't get paid more than the star for it. I know some people don't like her, not a big fan of her myself, but SJP was always the main star.

No one seems to consider the fact that SJP also served as and Executive producer on the show. She should've gotten paid more. Who cares if KC always took off her clothes that should show her you don't have to drop trou to get paid or attention. I love her character the the actress is petty. SJP also single handedly pick Patricia from the show's infancy as the costume designer.

SJP is an executive producer and the STAR of the show.If Kim is jealous at her age that's too bad. I don't think they should all get paid the same, SJP is the star, if Kim or Kristin or Cynthia don't like it, too bad. but the three of them should all get paid the same amount, IMO. I jsut think the exec producer and star of the show should get paid the most.

I say good for her. Yes, SJP may talk through the show as its voice of reason, but the four girls make up the show, its not just her show.

and the article stated that no show has ever seen equality in the payment of its actors..and that isn't true...All the stars of Friends were paid the exact same thing. They made sure of it by forming a pact, and never allowing one to be paid more then the other. It was all of them, or no one.

To me Kim put the Sex into Sex and the City. The show would have crashed and burned without her and so would the movie. I'm glad to see she held out for her due. If they didn't think she was necessary for the movie, they could have scrapped her character.
