Kelsey Grammer: Heart Attack Almost Killed Me

Contrary to previous reports, the heart attack suffered by Kelsey Grammer last month was not mild — it nearly killed the veteran sitcom star.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Grammer acknowledges that the "surprise" cancellation of his Fox show Back to You contributed to his health woes.

Grammer says that his heart stopped and had to be shocked back into rhythm. "As I lay there dying, I said, 'Please, I cannot do this. I don't want to see anything; I don't want to see any light.'"

The actor, who has two of the most successful sitcoms in history to his credit (Frasier and Cheers), says he's "doing fine." — Nina Hämmerling Smith

I saw him on Leno last night. It sounded like it was pretty scary! And then he said that the doctors told him to avoid stress, so he went on vacation and got a call that his dog died in surgery.... and then his Mom died! Stress seems to be following him around in the form of a black cloud with a lightning bolt aimed at him! So glad that we did not lose him! He is an amazing actor!
