Katee Sackhoff Has "No Plans to Leave Bionic Woman"

Katee Sackhoff wants to set the record straight. "I have no plans to leave Bionic Woman, and Michelle Ryan" — who fills the title role — "is doing a great job. There's not one ounce of bad blood between us."

Sackhoff, whose flamboyant turn as Sarah Corvus has overshadowed Ryan on the struggling NBC series, tells TV Guide that she absolutely did not diss either BW or its star at a recent convention. (News of the alleged cattiness came from a blogger who attended the sci-fi confab.) "It's sad," says Sackhoff, "because you want to connect with the fans, and then they throw it in your face in a negative light."

Sackhoff confides she's meeting with producers "to discuss my involvement in the show, which was pretty limited this year" — pre-strike, she was slated for seven episodes — "because of my obligations to Battlestar Galactica." Making clear she's "contractually obligated to a six-year deal" on BW, she insists she'd be "happy as a clam" to stay that long. "It's fun and it's a physical role, and god knows that's what I love to do." That said, "If they want to cut my involvement, that's totally fine. I understand that it's called Bionic Woman, not "Women." It would be nice to actually do a pilot season."

Available she might be. NBC hasn't called for additional episodes of BW, as it has done with fellow newbies Chuck and Life, so there's talk that last night's episode may have been an unexpected finale. — Ileane Rudolph

Thanks for setting the record straight. When you see and read something placed on the Internet like this, it takes on a life of its own whether it is true or not.

I think Sackhoff is a fine actress and her acting and part have overshadowed the lead star. This is not Sackett's fault. The writers should be doing a better job of showcasing Ryan on the show.

At the same time, if Bionic Woman is tanking, you cannot blame an actor for wanting to move onto something else.

I'm glad the clarification got headline status on tvguide. Several of us bloggers had been defending her and trying to sort out the real story on the original blog which I'm sure now by now is buried deep beneath several days' worth of stories.

The point is - Katee Sackhoff publicly expressed her hurt and disappointment at how she was treated by Dirk Benedict when BSG first aired. I couldn't imagine her doing the same to Michelle Ryan.

Oh, man. I really hope Katee knows it was ONE person that took everything out of context. I so appreciate how generous and amazing she is with her fans.

I really hope last nights eppy was not the series finale. It was a good ending but so much more can be done with it. As I mentioned the writers need to rethink Jamie. I liked the ending how she connect with Bec. We need more of that.
If that was the ending of BW- ghezz

I really want to like this show. It's such a cool character and idea. I hope it does get more time to figure out what kind of show it is and not get canceled.

Can we dump Jamie and make Sara Corvis the "Bionic Woman"? I've pretty much given up on this show (been watching "Kitchen Nightmares" instead), but if Katee had a bigger presence, I'd tune in.

Just felt the need to say this. I was actually at the convention in Burbank for Battlestar last week and Katee did indeed diss BW left and right. She also said she didn't know if she'd be back, but didn't say she was def. staying away from it. I'm just annoyed that she is making it sound like her fans are the ones that are lying when they aren't. She was great at the convention, sweet and funny.

Rain388 - I'm sure Katee Sackhoff appreciates fans like you who are so quick to undermine her pr efforts. I'm sure you'll be getting an autographed pitcure soon.

Ctheslayer:

Isn't hearing the true story more desirable than swallowing some carefully crafted damage control by p.r. people?

We now have two people (at least) who heard Sakhoff's comments about BW: the original blogger and Rain388. I tend to believe people who have nothing to gain in reporting what they heard than an actress who wants to avoid negative press. Your bubble seems to burst easily.

And it was wise to put Sarah Covis on the back burner while working to develop Jaime's character more fully. And I think Michelle Ryan has been doing a very good job.

Oh for the love of...

I WAS AT THE CON AS WELL, do I count? Katee didn't diss MR or say she was leaving the show.

How about accounts from people who actually attended?

ctheslayer: To be honest, I don't appreciate PR bull. If Katee doesn't like me as a fan, I'm not really too concerned. I'm not trying to trash her, she was lovely at the convention. She was bubbly and personable. I'm still a fan of her and her BSG character. I just felt others would like to know the truth about what was stated. I'm sure the video will be up on YouTube at some point and then everyone can see for themselves.

GarryB: Thanks for sticking up for me. I really didn't say it to be mean or vindictive. I just appreciate it when others share their experiences about what they were privy too at such events.

Well, if that's all it takes...

I know some people beleive that there is no Santa Claus, but I was at the North Pole and I met him myself. So it must be true.

GarryB, the point I was trying to make was - if you like someone, why take the time out to make them look bad? It wasn't a criticism of "seeking the truth" (puhleez), it was my honest inability to understand why you would purposefully set out to do that ,that's all. The world is negative enough as it is - if a star wants to put spin on it so the matter will drop, I say go for it. It's not like she committed murder or declared war or something.

Seek the truth about something important, not some star's damage control.

Well if the show isn't canceled then I guess if she wants to continue playing Starbuck she'll have to do it on BW with BSG entering it's final season. BTW can she play any other character or is she one of those actors that can only play one character and has no range?

The show has gotten better since her episodes aired. Coincidence? Does it matter? The shows probably gone since in this day and age the average tv viewer has an attention span of about 2 seconds. Long gone are the days when a lot of people would give a show half as season or more to right the ship.

Ctheslayer:

I didn't use a pompous phrase like "seeking the truth", I merely said that I'd rather hear the true story from several people who give similar versions of an incident--or even a simple quoteo--than rely on a press release or interview arranged to help keep a highly-paid actress appealing to future producers.

But I agree that none of this is important in the scheme of things.
