Jon Stewart Is Awarded Another Oscar... Hosting Gig

Despite having participated in the lowest-rated Oscars telecast of the past three years when he hosted in 2006, Daily Show anchor Jon Stewart has been asked back to oversee the ceremony when it airs Feb. 24, 2008, on ABC. "I am thrilled to be asked to host the Academy Awards for the second time," Stewart says in a statement, "because, as they say, the third time's a charm."

As previously reported, the 80th Annual Academy Awards will be produced by Gil Cates, who amid his 14 turns at the helm was on hand when Stewart braved his first, Brokeback-tastic hosting gig.

Thank you ABC! Now maybe my husband won't whine so much during the telecast about how he's embarrassed to be married to someone who watches "this boring self-congratulatory BS."

I love Jon Stewart, but I'd rather he was hosting the Emmys.

Conan O'brien is the funniest man on TV, and I've always thought he would make a perfect host for the Oscars. But no way ABC is going to give such an outlet for an NBC talent. Stewart is a decent choice.

Jon Stewart is horrible, they would have been better off getting Ryan Seacrest, who I have to remind everyone is a funny guy, he is not suppose to be hiliarious on American Idol.

monster, the reason you have to remind people that Seacrest-Out is funny is because they don't think he is funny. That should tell you something.

The emmy's are meaningless - the Oscars are a little better, IMO. I loved Jon Stewart the first time so I have high hopes for this time hosting as well.

I'm with you Matt how about a trio of Bruno, Carrie Ann & Len Goodman or maybe Paula Abdul & Rosie O'donnell and before anyone gets nasty I am only JOKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I like Jon Stewart , I also like Ellen,Lettermen & Whoppi would prefer Billy Crystal but I only watch the opening monologue anyway could care less about the awards.
