« Today's News: Our Take
John Lennon Fans Take Aim at Lindsay Lohan Film
Fans of the late John Lennon are calling for a boycott of Chapter 27, a critically hailed (yet not picked up at Sundance) look at Mark David Chapman (played by Jared Leto), claiming its release would fulfill Chapman's prophecy of becoming famous by murdering Lennon. Some protesters are even lobbing death threats at Lindsay Lohan, who costars in the film. "It's nonsense," exec producer John Flock tells the New York Daily News, pointing out that Chapter 27's take on Chapman is not sympathetic, and "he comes off as a monster in the end."
Elsewhere, Lohan is back at work on her stripper pic I Know Who Killed Me, but, post-rehab, is said to be "moody," "late" and "miserable" on the set, spies tell the New York Post. Also, out of fear of pushing herself too hard, La Lo has bailed on her next project, A Woman of No Importance, in which she was to costar with Annette Bening.

Bailing on a project with Annette Benning?!? That's just plain DUMB! If she's making decisions like that, she needs to spend a little more time in rehab to help her get a grip on her career decisions. Otherwise she's going to be a "has been" in just a couple more years. She's been doing surprisingly well for now for a Tinseltown naughty girl, but her luck isn't going to last forever. Even if she is sober now post-rehab, there has to be some way for her to get a reality check in her decision making. It would be such a waste to see what could be a long, successful career just go down the toilet. And it doesn't take long to become a B-lister. I dunno if she's just throwing a pity party, but she's gotta start thinking long term, and soon.
EDITED AFTER MATT'S 11:03 AM COMMENT: Gee Matt, you made me type all that for nothing. Things like that DO make a difference. But that's ok, you're still my fave TVG editor/blogger. Hopefully her agent has something even better lined up for her with another veteran actress after a little R&R. I may be in the minority here but when I see her on TV doing/saying the wrong thing, I just see how easy it could be for her to blow her vast potential. I'm glad she's getting help now, before she became a train wreck.

To be fair, I just edited in a clarification that Lohan is dropping out of the Bening film as part of her "recovery"/plan to not push herself too hard.

Funny. Annette Benning was originally supposed to play the Jamie Lee Curtis role in Freaky Friday, but ended up bailing.

It's too bad that she dropped the movie to help with her recovery, because it seems like the only time LiLo's life goes well is when she's filming a movie with a more mature actress who can be a surrogate mother for her. (Freaky Friday & Jamie Lee Curtis, A Prairie Home Companion & Meryl Streep)

I'm sure Annette Benning is very upset at not getting the chance to work with such a professional as Lindsay!

Too late with Chapman. People already know who he is and it isn't going to change with a movie about it. We live in the US where people are free to make bad movies - I know I've seen too many of them, some get nominated for Oscars. I admit it may raise the awareness of the average 18 year old. Maybe they need to understand what a monster he was. I have no idea if I will see the movie, a snap decision would be probably not - but I've learned to wait on things and not to always trust my emotional response.
I'm sure Lindsey Lohen or anyone in a 'real' rehab position isn't making decisions alone or without reason. If she can't handle it more power to her for realizing it. I wish more people would think before doing things they shouldn't do. It certainly isn't any one else's opinion that should matter at this point in her life.

Just because someone makes a movie doesn't mean we have to go see it. Nothing works better than a bad bottom line. I think true Lennon fans wouldn't go near this travesty, and non-Lennon fans wouldn't care to see it.
As far as that comment that he comes off as a monster in the end...that's beyond lame! I think the killer was talking about fame or infamy, so he'll dine on any attention, good or bad. You can't justify this kind of think in any way.
I don't believe in boycotts, but I know my personal choice will be to avoid this film, in the same way that I avoided Barbara Walters' interview with the pathetic little man who killed a Beatle (both originally and a few years ago, when it was the 25th anniversary of that sad, awful day.

I have to ask this as it has been really bugging me...since when is rehab only 3 days long? How could she leave after 3 days and think that she is cured? Look at how long Keith Urban was in rehab, wasn't it 3 months??

LOL, alexis!
I think there's a special three-hour rehab for celebs. All you have to do is: a) be fabulous, b) click your heels three times near the exit, and c) say "Hey, it's happy hour somewhere!"
Keith Urban obviously took the higher road.
We'll see which one of them lives longer.
(All glibness aside, I hope LL pulls herself together. After enjoying her in Mean Girls and A Prairie Home Companion, I tend to think there's some talent there. There but for the grace of stable parents...)
