J.Lo, Kelly Ripa Join Forces with TLC

TLC has joined forces with two of entertainment's powerhouses, Jennifer Lopez and Kelly Ripa, to develop new programs. Each will star in upcoming, separate series, while Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos have also inked a development deal with the 'net.

Lopez's series will be a documentary-style (ahem, reality show) look into her life as she juggles being a new mom, pursuing her career and launching a new fragrance. That's a lot for anyone to tackle, but I'm confident Jenny from the block's going show us how it's done (It takes hard work, for example, to cash checks). Lopez will cocreate and coexecutive produce the show.

Ripa and Consuelos will be shaping more than just one series, although they're starting with one that Ripa will host, that has not yet been named. The pair and their company, Milojo Productions, made a first-look deal for unscripted TV projects.

Is J.Lo going too far with her behind-the-scenes series, or was it just a matter of time? Is Ripa poised for world domination? Which show would you rather tune in for? — Anna Dimond

If I was forced to watch one it would probably be Kelly Ripa's.
I could care less how someone with J.Lo's money juggles being a mother and her "career". How many nannies do they employ anyway?
Doesn't she have enough money already??
She got more money for putting her brand new babies on the cover of a magazine than my entire extended family will make in a life time. Enough is enough.
Stop paying this woman for doing less than what most mothers actually do.

Neither. I've already seen too much of both of them.

I've always liked Kelly Ripa, but I thought she and Mark had the good sense to know that Reality TV is the last step before career suicide. I thought they were on an upward trajectory until now. This makes me sad.

SO not true!! Kelly had a sitcom and that failed right?? I make it a point to never watch scripted shows and I'm glad to hear that I can add her new reality show to my tv viewing! Reality shows are far more exciting and entertaining that any scripted show could ever dream of being!

Her sitcom may have sucked, but it lasted three seasons and now runs in syndication. Not quite a failure.

So pray tell...what one-time star has done a reality show and gone on to greater success? And MILF Island doesn't count.

No, I think your argument still stands. With the oh, so subtle use of irony, I was backing your argument.;)

I'm just surprised that Kelly and Mark didn't use the name Milojo Co. for Michael, Lola, and Joaquin Consuelos.

But I clearly have too much time on my hands.

Neither !

Sadly TLC used to stand for The Learning Channel - but they don't seem to have any content worth learning about any more.

Flavor Flaz- so funny! I agree mryjhsn2, TLC used to have good shows and now it's nothing more than fluff. The Jennifer Lopez thing actually surprises me. She seemed to really want privacy as of the last few years, but now I guess it's back to being publicity hungry.

I make it a point to never watch scripted shows and I'm glad to hear that I can add her new reality show to my tv viewing! Reality shows are far more exciting and entertaining that any scripted show could ever dream of being!

And that tells exactly why TV quality has gone so downhill.

I don't care how reality tv has taken over network tv but now it's ruining special niche cable channels as well. MTV is now a reality channel. E! is also a reality channel. VH1 is a reality channel. Oxygen is a reality channel with that horrible Bad Girls Club. TLC isn't so much a about learning anymore. Animal Planet isn't about animals anymore but now has fake reality shows about meerkats and chimps (yeah, Meerkat Manor is largely scripted).

luke9, you got that right!!

Now my beloved TVLand has jumped on the reality show wagon. They have "The Big 4-0" and "High School Reunion". These ridiculous reality shows have no business being on the same channel with legendary shows, such as "The Andy Griffith Show" and "I Love Lucy".

I sure miss the old MTV and VH1 channels.

JLo with her new behind-the-scenes show...spare me.
