J.J. Abrams' Top-secret Sci-fi Show Lands at Fox

Following a heated bidding war, Fox backed up the Brinks truck and made a series commitment to Fringe, which was until now a super-hush-hush new project from J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. Fox reportedly will pony up some $10 million for a two-hour pilot — that's on par with Lost's own debut — as well as pay a sizable $2 mil-per-episode licensing fee to Abrams' Bad Robot.

Oh yeah, the premise: Fringe concerns a young female FBI agent (my favorite kind) who in the name of investigating a rash of unexplained phenomena teams with an institutionalized scientist whose life's work may be at the heart of the strange goings-on. The series' previous working title? "The Eureka Files."

Oh boy! Not to sound too cynical but what if this show flops? I mean, they're dropping a ton of money expecting it to be a giant hit but the premise doesn't sound so amazing. Though JJ Abrams does seem to have the midas touch.

I second the nomination of Kristen Bell. For the scientist, why not Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni)?

put the Terminator series with Fringe on Thursday at 8 & 9pm and the other networks will get killed. FOX can own Thursday next season if they go this way.

Scorned1, I have to disagree with you. I've seen the Terminator pilot, which so far is easily the best pilot of any new shows this season, and I don't think it's an 8pm show. Furthermore I think Terminator and Smallville would target similar core audiences. For that matter Fringe and Supernatural sound like they'd have a good bit of audience overlap.

Ditto on Kristen Bell and Enrico Colantoni.

NO Kristen Bell. How about we add some "diversity" to the TV line up. She's already got her job (Heroes), let's give some up and comers a chance!!!!
