How Kimmel's Video Became a Star-studded Affair

Josh Groban cameo on Jimmy Kimmel Live by Michael Desmond/ABC
After watching Jimmy Kimmel's hilarious post-Oscars "I'm F--king Ben Affleck" music video, I had one lingering thought I just couldn't put to rest: How in the world did they get stick-in-the-mud Harrison Ford to play along?

Apparently, all they had to do was ask. When Affleck learned that Ford found the humor in an earlier video, in which Kimmel's girlfriend Sarah Silverman confessed to getting down with Matt Damon, they approached the Indiana Jones star and found him more than willing to play a part. Ford was just one in a shockingly large group of celebs, including Brad Pitt, Robin Williams, Cameron Diaz and Josh Groban, who were eager to make an appearance in Kimmel's jokingly vengeful retort.

Even with all that star power on hand, shooting the clip took quite a while. New York's Daily News reports that the scene in which Kimmel and Affleck almost kiss required 10 takes because the pair couldn't stop laughing. But all the hard work was worth it — the video has already been viewed more than eight million times on ABC.com and YouTube. — Adam Bryant

POLL: Whose "effing" video is funnier, Sarah's or Jimmy's? Vote here.

I watched it on Jimmy's show. I hadn't seen the original, although I had heard of it (funny, and I can't even stand Sarah Silverman.) The "revenge video" was hilarious. I kept saying, "Brad Pitt?...Josh Groban?...Harrison Ford?!" It's not my usual kind of humor, but I have to tip my hat--if I had one--to Jimmy Kimmel. The whole "We Are the World" thing was so funny.

So now of course Sarah Silverman really needs to make a revenge video to the revenge video. Here's an idea...

Sarah could be f--king Jennifer Garner. Get a few cameos of Garner's recent costars Jason Bateman, Ellen Page... or even old ones like Victor Garber, Collin Farrell. And since Garner is tight with JJ Abrams that opens up a whole slew of actors from Lost, Star Trek, and Mission Impossible. Think about it: Hurley, Sylar, and Ethan Hunt.

Sarah's is funny because she originated the concept, but Jimmy's video is actually funnier and man, all the cameos! Kudos to him!

I was just waiting for Dan Aykroyd to pop up in the background during the "We Are the World" segment.

I found Sarah's funnier and I don't even find her relatively funny. Jimmy gets points for all the celebs (seriously, Harrison Ford, Brad?), but I think Sarah's is better and pretty damn funny.

YAWN! Yet another tired joke revolving around 'straight' men pretending to be gay. Hardy-har-har!

Sarah/Matt was already hilarious, but Jimmy/Ben was a work of ART..the quiet interlude was the best!!

Jimmy and Ben's video was hilarious but I prefer Sarah and Matt's more simply because of the lyrics.

My fav part:
"On the bed, on the floor, on a towel by the door, in the tub, in the car, up against the mini-bar." lol. never fails to crack me up..

But having Brad Pitt and Dominic M. (CHARLIE!!) in one video was amazing!

I like Jimmy's much better. I can't stop laughing at just how many stars he got to be in it. I really can't believe it. I can watch this over and over and not get bored.

I like them both for different reasons:

Sarah - She was first and thus is given credit for coming up with it (though I'm sure Jimmy was not completely unaware of it since it's a skit for his show for pete's sake). Plus it had a really nice flow with the lyrics and the editing/pacing. Plus Matt Damon > Ben Affleck. That's just fact.

Jimmy - Not as polished as Sarah's and the lyrics were mostly forgettable, BUT lots and lots of stars. Now getting stars is probably easy, but getting certain stars that you would least suspect--Harrison Ford, Josh Groban--deserves kudos points.

"...Matt Damon > Ben Affleck. That's just fact".

I second this. :)

I liked both. But Jimmy's was effing hysterical. I even posted the video on myspace page.

They must be the world's most fun couple to have dinner with, if you could stand the language.

Jimmy's was a riot, but Sarah's was first, so she gets my vote for just having this ridiculous concept. Matt looked AWESOME in the video, too.
