Out of Order: Jesse L. Martin Calls It Quits

After nine years of playing Det. Ed Green (and after many months of speculation), Jesse L. Martin is expected to leave NBC's Law & Order. Sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that Martin, who had originally signed on for at least 13 episodes this season, will film one more show in which his alter ego is written off the canvas.

Perhaps filling the void left by Martin will be Anthony Anderson, who is said to be in final talks to join L&O. Anderson (most recently of Fox's short-lived K-Ville) would play a new detective partnered with Jeremy Sisto's Lupo.

I'll miss Jesse. But I guess that after 9 years of playing the same role he's ready to try something new. Good luck Jesse!

Bummer. The current L&O cast is the best it's been in a long time. If it is Anderson, I hope we get the Sheild Anderson as opposed to Kville Anderson.

I figured this was coming. I've never been a Green fan, but I appreciate that he's a fairly popular character among L&O fans, so he will be missed.

Here's to the rest of his career.

(ps., I'm pretty sad that K-Ville won't be coming back. lol)

Sweet jesus, noooo! There is no one more annoying than Anthony Anderson. How many movies and tv shows does that guy have to stank up before he stops getting hired? Every other actor on the planet is better. Every reality TV emo jerk would be better. Benji, Lassie and that 'roo from Kangaroo Jack would be better. Do the producers really think the kids who went to see Transformers are going to tune into to see Anthony Anderson in Law and Order? Yeesh!

That is the worst idea ever. I remember Anderson when he partnered with Stabler on SVU - hated him! I don't think he can play a detective, haven't we learned anything?

Too bad he's leaving, as this year's cast is one of the strongest they've had in years. Although, Anderson as a replacement is intriguing.

It's sad but that's what this show is--people come and go. However I don't think Anthony Anderson is a suitable replacement.

Buffy Freak: I hope we get the Sheild Anderson as opposed to Kville Anderson.

I agree!

I agree too. AA on the Shield was the best ever. Now Kville. That show may have been doomed from the top.

Don't over act Ant.

I was preparing myself for this since the news of JM only signing up for 13 episodes. I am sad to see him go. I wish him all the best in his future projects. I am looking forward to seeing to see AA join the cast (I am one of the few who really enjoyed him on K-Ville.)

:( This really saddens me. I must have missed all the speculation/didn't see that he had only signed on for 13 episodes.

And ronato, I agree Anthony Anderson is not a suitable replacement.
