Jennifer Love's Bikini-photo Rebuttal: "I Love My Body"

Declaring that "this is the last time I will address this subject," Jennifer Love Hewitt has fired back at bloggers making catty comments about her bikini-clad self, as seen in new photos on the Internet (seen here or here). "I've sat by in silence for a long time now about the way women's bodies are constantly scrutinized," the actress says at Jennifer Love Hewitt Online. "To set the record straight, I'm not upset for me, but for all of the girls out there that are struggling with their body image. A size 2 is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size 0 doesn't make you beautiful."

Hewitt prefers to be celebrating her recent engagement "instead of having to deal with photographers taking invasive pictures from bad angles. I know what I look like... and like all women out there should, I love my body. To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini... and stay strong."

What's your take? Is Love being a great role model or — as one of you has already suggested — is she coming off as somewhat hypocritical?

Let's face it: Jennifer Love Hewitt has made a career out of showing off her big breasts, as well as the rest of her, for all to see. To her credit, she hasn't posed nude (as far as I know), but to suddenly take offense at the attention her body gets sounds quite hypocritical to me.

is she joking or what? complaining about body image with size 2??? and goes on to say size 2 is not "fat"?
Excuse me Ms. Love, but most women in the US are size 12 and up. I want to hear you say 12 is not fat, that 16 is not fat and that 20 is not fat!

The problem was not that she's "fat" but that she picked the worst possible bikini for her body type. Large breasted women should never wear a strapless bikini.

If the first two posters had read the story, you would realize that JLH is not the one saying that size 2 is fat, but that the so-called writers of the story claim that she is fat. People3 like these muckrakers are one of the causes of anorexia in teens, and other body image issues. If you want to get pissed at someone get pissed at the freaks who write these stories.

I was going to post that women are their own worst enemy because only women would make rude comments about another woman...and I was going to go on that most men wouldn't have a problem with JLH wearing whatever bikini she wanted to wear. I'd be interested in knowing whether people think I'm off-base or on-track.

Good for you JLH for speaking up. She is being a better role model for girls (and everyone else) than the Paris and Lindseys of the world.

I don't know, TV Gord, one of my male friends sent me links to those pictures ewwwwing at the size and texture of her behind, and I asked him what he thought women's bodies look like when they're not airbrushed.

Good for her! She is so right. This whole image thing where women want to disappear in their clothes sizes is disturbing. I think she has a striking body shape and looks great!

GarryB and NorthernStar you missed the entire point of the article.

Jennifer Love Hewitt has a real body. A beautiful body. And she looks fantastic in those pictures. It's ridiculous for her to have to defend herself for it.

Hopefully more and more people will start living in and appreciating the real world and the negative crap that's splattered all over the internet will disappear. (Like the vileness spouted out by a certain rainbow colored haired blogger with no room to talk.)

It's past time we start demanding that people go back to treating others with respect and decency.

What the hell? She's still hot as ever!
Granted, that rear shot was not flattering, but come on, she's beautiful!

Why do people think a visible rib, or collar bone line is attractive? It's disgusting! If your bicept is the same diameter as your wrist, you're too damn skinny! I used to think Nicole Richie was kind of cute during those early seasons of the Simple Life (though I never actually watched the show, the pictures I saw of her, I thought she was cuter than Paris) But all of a sudden she drops all this weight she didn't have to loose, and now looks like death worn over. Same thing with the Olsen twins, while one of them (I know they're not actually identical twins, but that still doesn't mean I can telll them apart) looks worse, both of them look like hell. And obvious, the same for Lindsay Lohan; and I can't even tell what's going on with her, one minute it's obvious that she's too damn skinny, the next it looks like she's put some weight back on, but still looks like crap.
The other extreme being putting on too much weight, which is of course possible, but too many people are too critical of just a little extra weight; like with Britney. There are some unflattering pictures out there, so it's hard to tell just how bad it got for her, but I don't care what anyone says, she looked good at the MTV awards, or whatever pointless awards show it was that was so criticall panned as a too soon attempt to revive her career. (Granted, the dance moves and costume looked rediculous, but then I'm of the opinion that, if I want scantily dressed woman, grinding and writhing to a bad music genre, I'll just go to the strip club or find a hooker) Now with that said, some of the angles and clips that have made the rounds on the internet, weren't the most flattering either, but she looked pretty good.
Who started this rediculous idea that a woman had to look like she was from a starving third world country, or a recovering meth addict to look attractive??

I love J-Love for who and what she is. If she loves herself, that's all that really matters. Fortunately looks do not make the person and those that allow it too are simple minded and superficial.

God bless you, Jennifer. We NEED celebrities who look like actual people to take a stand and go shamelessly public with the news that even the 99.34% of the world that is not built like a fashion model are beautiful, valuable humans and deserve to be loved, treated with respect and entitled to wear whatever they want if it makes them happy and feels goods.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
