Janet Jackson's New Reality Show for MTV - Today's News: Our Take

Janet Jackson has decided to throw her hat into the reality-TV ring, developing a new show with 25/7 Productions for MTV.

The show will search YMCAs, churches, community centers and other atypical places to find the next Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake or Usher — basically someone who has an amazing voice and can also bust some serious moves. (And, presumably, can weather a massive PR nightmare in the wake of "accidental" nudity.)

The untitled show, reports Variety, will be shot in the next few months before Jackson takes off on her next world tour on Sept. 10.

Have you ever heard Janet Jackson or Usher sing live? Now if you had said they are looking for the next Janet or Usher-basically someone who can have their voice altered by exteremely talented studio techs, that would be a whole lot more accurate.

ANYone in a new reality show has got to be better than Denise Richards.

Though, I do wish the show's mission were different, maybe something more charitable. Put the cash to good use. There are still people living in moldy trailers in Louisiana after Katrina. How about a contest to see who can build the most houses the fastest in New Orleans? All new reality shows from here on out should have an altruistic goal.

We already have enough reality talent shows on tv...

So if they are looking for the next Janet Jackson - that means they want a person who is an okay dancer but is a great lip syncher? I don't think she has ever sung live - her voice is so weak.

If her name was Janet Jones or Janet Johnson or Janet Jefferson, she'd have never had a career at all. She is merely a product of being Michael Jackson's little sister. SHe's put out some good dance music but that is thatnks to her producers and songwriters, not her singing "ability".
