Oh, simmah down, MD. The pregnant teenage star of a wholesome kids' show is still news, yes.
It's not like I've got us dishing on the Jen-John fauxmance, am I right?

overheard family matriarch Lynn Spears gushing about how Jamie Lynn and fiancé Casey Aldridge were thrilled to learn that they'd be having a girl.
And that there tells you all you need to know about the Spears family. Thrilled about a teen pregnancy? Really?

I'm with you on the color scheme, Anna. That combination brings back memories of a bathroom in a 1930s house a friend of mine owns. One of those rooms where the best you can say is, "Well, it certainly is interesting!"

The die is already cast. There will be a baby very soon, and unless the family wants the baby to feel unwelcomed and unwanted, they need to get on board and be "thrilled". Or they could throw the mother and baby out and go through life angry and bitter. For myself, I choose whichever path does not lead to angry and bitter.

Off topic, but I knew a couple who decorated their daughter's nursery in black, white and yellow. It had bright yellow walls with giant black and white pandas painted on each wall. The couple read somewhere that this would stimulate the child. Scare the heck out of it more like it. I couldn't be in that nursery for more than a few minutes at a time. UGH.
BTW, wildbill, at least the kids seem to be embracing the fact that Jamie is pregnant. I don't condone it, but at least this baby might not end up with child services because of abuse. Oh wait...Jamie Lynn is Brit's sister, so...hmmmm.. ">

wildbill, now that the baby is conceived and JL has decided to have it, what WOULD you have the Spears family do? Abandon her? Glare at the baby every time it comes into the room? JL needs MORE family support, not less. A more attentive family might have prevented this unexpected baby in the first place.

Dianora and curlup - well said.
As far as the nursery is concerned - I would have to wait and see this myself, but but bold, black and white or dark and light shapes are supposed to be good for babies to focus on as their eyesight develops. It's probably just yellow and white with black and white shapes on the wall or a black and white mobile. Can't be any worse than the bling-bling nurseries of other some celebs.

Guys, as far as the nursery goes, I have a toddler and a baby, so I'm pretty well-versed on nurseries these days, and if I had to guess, I'd say the "black and white" being referred to is probably black and white toile, which is not only very beautiful and elegant, but extremely fashionable in nurseries right now, as well. And the previous poster is right--high-contrast colors (like black and white) are very interesting to young babies (they pay no attention to pastels until they're older).
As for Mama Spears being "thrilled," yes, she's a piece of work who has raised two girls with questionable judgment, but as a previous poster said, yes, what's done is done, so she better get on board and be excited. It's not the baby's fault. Why should the baby have to suffer for Jamie Lynn's bad judgment?

As far as I'm concerned, Jaime Lynn has been staying in Louisiana and at least TRYING to have a normal life, so really why don't we just leave her alone? And yes being excited about the baby is the way to go at this point since what's done is done.

So the lesson is getting pregnant as a teen is a bad thing, but once pregnant it's a good thing? That's what you're saying and that's pretty warped thinking.
I'm didn't say anything about abandoning the kid but to be thrilled about the pregnancy is redneck thinking (yeah that's not PC so what, grow a spine if it bothers you).

Come on wildbill, NO one is saying that. You're twisting words around to make it sound warped. The point is that it happened, it was a mistake yes, but it happened. You can't turn back time, so the right thing for a family to do now is be supportive. It seems pretty normal to me to be excited about having a little baby around. As far as your redneck comment, I won't say anything about that since it has no validity to the argument.

No one is asking anyone to be thrilled about a teen pregnancy, and doing whatever they can to prevent one should be every parents' priority. Another parental priority should be support and empathy after a terrible mistake has been made.
The article doesn't say that they are thrilled about the teen pregnancy, it says that they are thrilled that the baby is a girl.
Last week I had a reading disability and now I'm a redneck. I don't think you know me very well, wildbill.

She said she is thrilled about the baby girl. I'm sure the idea of her 17 yr old daughter having a baby wasn't the greatest, but she does love her grandchild. There is nothing wrong with her loving her grandchild. As for the color scheme of black, yellow and white... They are from Louisiana and those colors (besides being good for contrast) are the colors of the Saints Football team. That is probably a reason for the rumored color scheme which makes sense to me.
No, it wasn't the optimum timing for anyone to have a baby, but they are welcoming the baby in with open arms. If she were speaking ill of the baby everyone would say she was horrible for saying mean things.
