Jamie Lynn Spears: Will Zoey Go On? Plus, Her Dad's "Devastated"

Decisions, decisions. Keep Zoey 101 on the air, even though series lead Jamie Lynn Spears is now the poster girl for teenage pregnancy, or pull one of cable's most popular youth-targeted series as a PR tactic? Nickelodeon thus far is opting for Plan A and sticking with its schedule to broadcast the remainder of Zoey 101's fourth and final season, which had wrapped production in September, says the Reporter.

As Whoopi Goldberg pointed out on Wednesday's The View, "Her character is her character, who she is who she is. This might be a discussion to have later, separating the people from the characters."

Switching back to real-life matters, a source tells Us that Jamie Spears is "furious" that ex-wife Lynne sold Jamie Lynn's story to OK!, and as such he refused to share in any profits. Spears' pop is "devastated" by his teen daughter's pregnancy, and "feels Jamie Lynn ruined her life," says the weekly.

well, if the 4th season was already gonna be the last and they've already finished filming, then they should just air it.

Not that I care, I don't watch Nick, but you know, why throw away money?

i would step out on a limb and say a good number of the kids who watch that show prob won't even know that she's preggers....and if she wasn't showing when they filmed the last season then just show it!

Air the remaining episodes. Sad thing is, the teenyboppers and younger children look up to trash like this. The whole Spears "family" should be ashamed for airing their dirty laundry like this. There isn't one bit of apologetics in the entire family. I absolutely "loved" the mother's comment, "They've been friends for years," as if that makes everything okay.

Okay, so it sounds like to me that Nick is simply trying to decide whether to air the remainder of the last season that has already been taped or not to in light of JLS becoming pregnant. With that in mind, I think they have two options. One cancel the show immediately without re-airing the episodes or two, air the remaining episodes and my suggestion would be for JLS to do a sort of public service announcement regarding teenage pregnancy. Really, I think Nick is in a no win situation here, because if they air the shows then its almost as if they are saying that this type of behavior is okay, but if they don't air the shows then they'll have alot of upset fans that they do not want to disappoint. Bearing all that in mind I think they should air the remaining episodes, but absolutely insist that JLS do those public service announcements I mentioned earlier (I think this last part is absolutely crucial so that Nicklodeon can emphasize that they do not in anyway condone this).

I think this should be the last season. It sends a wrong message to kids if she continues on in the role. Yes - people and characters are different and separate, but I don't know that the audience of these shows draws that line. Plus, they look up to these people.

If ET, Access and Extra cover Hannah Montana and Raven and other teen stars, its easy to bet that the teen fans of those shows tune in. So yeah, I bet they'll hear one way or another about JLS. My suggestion is that in the upcoming future, Nick News handles the story and get a discussion going between kids and adults, the way they've so often done before.

Absolutely her fans know. One of my second graders came into school today and told me that "Zoey" is pregnant "and she's ONLY 16!" I corrected her that it is the actress not the character, but still.

And they also knew about the rumors that Miley was pregnant.

As a parent, I would use this as an object lesson. But for the most part the kids who are getting pregnant at 14, 15, 16 years old are the ones who have parents that wouldn't think of it as an occasion to discuss it.

I don't care what they do with the show. I just hope this is the end of Britney and Jamie in the public eye.

I think we underestimate our kids if we think they aren't smart enought to differentiate between the character of Zoey and the actress who plays her. So, Nick should air the shows.

I think Jaimie Lynn's career should be over for good. How stupid of a hillbilly is she to get pregnant after the huge circus her sister is dealing with? This family is white trailer trash and we should be done with them!

Whatever happened to statutory rape.
The chick is sixteen having sex, gets pregnant and nobody goes to jail?
Duh!

I believe that the 4th season should NOT be aired. She is 16 and pregnant. Pregnant by an adult who would probably be in jail right now if we were not talking about the Spears family. It is proven that these people did not raise good and moral thinking children, probably because the parents do not have morals themselves. How did we get here? Why do we think this is ok? To all of you that have little 12 and 13 year old girls, I hope they do not follow in Ms Spears footsteps.

As long as she's not showing a baby bump, you might as well air them. But if there was a fifth season in the works, I'd say stop at the end of the current run.

You would think that with all the issues that Britney's had, the parents would make sure that Jamie Lynn was a little more ... discerning in her behavior. Instead, I think it's now safe to say that the Spears are gonna end up with the duplex double-wide at the end of the trailer park. Too darn bad.

I'm also hearing Lynne Spears' book on parenting is "on indefinite hold." Um, yeah, it should be. It's probably a primer of how NOT to raise a child.

I do feel sorry for Jamie Lynne, though. Yeah, it was a stupid thing to have happen, but it seems to me she's going to be getting more than her share of flack because of her sister.

I would have to agree with the previous poster about Nick doing a public service annoucement about teen pregnancy. I wouldn't waste the money and time spent on the episodes by not airing the episodes. And get good ole Linda Ellerbee to do a Nick News segment on teen pregnancy!!

I'm still wondering why in the world would the Spears family elect to break the story in a magazine. Teen pregnancy is still such a sensitive subject in this country and not that I'm one to judge, but it just seems in poor taste to talk about it in OK magazine, almost asking for more scrutiny and negative comments!!

My best goes out to Nick, they have always produced quality shows for kids and I'm confident they can bounce back from this and find the next big star!!
