Jamie Lynn Spears Pregnant at 16: "It Was a Shock," Says Britney's Kid Sis

Britney's kid sister, Jamie Lynn Spears (Zoey 101), is in a family way — and at the ripe, Keisha Castle-Hughes-esque age of 16. In an interview with OK!, Jamie Lynn reveals that she is 12 weeks along and that Casey Aldridge, her boyfriend whom she met at church (for whatever that's worth), is the babydaddy. "It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," the AP quotes Jamie Lynn as telling OK! "I was in complete and total shock and so was he."

Until now, Britney has been kept in the dark about becoming a (crazy, crazy) aunt. "This is going to kill [Britney]," a family friend tells People. "In the end, she'll be supportive, but this is a big shock."

Nickelodeon's reaction to its wholesome role model's star's surprising reveal (and seeming loss of virginity)? "We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation," the cable network says in an official statement. "We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well-being."

Does the teen starlet have a message for her impressionable teen fans? "I definitely don't think [premarital sex is] something you should do; it's better to wait," she says in OK! "But I can't be judgmental because it's a position I put myself in."

In what very well might be related news, a book that Spears' mother, Lynne, had in the works — about how she raised Britney and Jamie Lynn — has been "delayed indefinitely," a publisher's rep tells People, adding, "We are standing behind Lynne at this time and understand that she needs time with her family."

What's your take? No Santa Claus, Jamie Lynn pregnant... who can we believe in anymore? And do you think Britney set the bar low for sis?

POLL: Who's to blame here? Vote now.

Well, I rolled my eyes and giggled at this. I hope she'll have good support systems and not repeat her sister's mistakes. She's 16 though... it's going to be tough.

She's supposed to be a role model?!?!? I'm not going to let my younger sister watch her show anymore. What a disgrace!!?!!? She gives teens a bad name...........

How very unfortunate for her and her family. In this day and age there really is no excuse for her mother not being more proactive. (Yes I blame her mother!) Teenagers are very naive and as much as we would like to think they will make smart decisions, unfortunately costly, life changing mistakes happen. In my experience with my own daughter, regardless of what she says about not having sex, or wanting to have sex, we put her on the pill when she started dating at 16. She's now 18 and baby free!

Ab-so-freaking-lutely hilarious news Matt! :-p

One would think she'd have gotten a clue how not to live her life from the insanity Britney's life has been over the last 2-3 years. This family is a prime example of white-trash behavior at its finest!

I'm tempted to ask where her Mama was but clearly she's been otherwise occupied with her out-of-control older daughter and trying to keep her grandkids alive for another couple of days.

Anyone want to place bets on Ali Lohan's first DUI? Visit to rehab?

I actually think it's Lynne Spears that set the bar too low for Britney and Jamie-Lynn!!

I had hoped for better for her. My 10 daughter enjoys her show and now what? Have a discussion about teen pregnancy I'm not ready to have? Not let her watch the show? Ban all pop culture news from the house? I was glad she was too young for the original Britney bandwagon - however I think this might be worse. Is there or has there ever been any adult supervision in the Spears house? Color me sad and disgusted.

Proof that you can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can't take the trailer park out of the girl.

I find that amusing. WHOAH! I never liked Brit from day one, she was 16 and dressed a bit too provocately for my taste, no daughter of mine would have ever been seen that way. I do think it's the parenting also, because Jaime Lynn should have known better from watching the train wreck that is her big sister. Trailer Trash is trailer trash no matter what mansion they live in.

Don't they teach birth control in the square states?

Oops. My bad. I forgot they don't even teach evolution in flyover-country.

I never said this is RIGHT but if she takes care of the child then GOOD for her better then alot of young moms.. For all you STUPID people I know better then that I know you all know someone who has had a child at a young age n this n that so dont act lk just bc she is a ROLE MODEL its any worse off no one said hey kids be just lk her, PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES!!!!

Let me guess. She shook hands with Kfed at Thanksgiving?

All kidding aside, the Spears family has to be the biggest bunch of rednecks on either side of the Mississippi.

She is certainly taking after her sister in a negative way. Say good to Nickelodeon's ZOEY 101. I'd say her act is irresponsible to the unborn baby, herself, her family, her fans and especially her now out of work cvo-stars

It's a shame her and her boyfriend are so poor they can't even afford condoms.
Maybe she'll get welfare and food stamps when the baby comes. I mean, the poor thing must not have a penny to her name.
