JAG's David James Elliott Makes an Impact

Finally, a crumb for David James Elliott's loyal fans. The JAG alum will star in Impact, a four-hour, $13 million miniseries about the disaster that ensues when a piece of a dwarf star lodges itself in the moon, triggering a series of anomalies on Earth, including exaggerated tides, sporadic weightlessness and (the horror!) cell-phone service interruption.

Per the Reporter, Elliott will play an astrophysicist who with a help of a lady astronomer concluded that the moon is now on a collision course with Earth. What they can possibly do about that, I do not know. Call Bruce Willis? — MWM

There was a tacky low-budget Stephen Baldwin movie that just played on SCI-FI, called Earthstorm. Based on your description, the plot is virtually identical, down to the gorgeous expert/ love interest and impending moon-crashing-into earth doom.

Hope the special effects are better on this one!

Maybe they'll have everybody rush to one side of the earth to throw it out of orbit?

In the end, it won't really matter. DJE and lady friend will save the day (and the planet), falling in love in the meantime--after the initial animosity/competitiveness wears off, of course.

As a 10-season long JAG fan, it pains me to say this, but here goes:

As long as DJE's wife, Nanci Chambers, doesn't play the "lady astronomer", I'll watch. I'm getting really tired of seeing this RL couple paired up - or sharing screen time - in DJE's projects. I don't have a personal beef against her, but there are a lot of other actresses who have worked better opposite DJE - Andrea Parker (Harm Rabb's original partner on JAG) for one.

Close, monkey65...
After the initial competitiveness wears off, the former lovers, who are forced to work together, will not realize they have fallen back in love until DJE's character is revealed to be the only one on the planet who can take the nuclear device to the Moon and detonate it in just the right spot to change the Moon's trajectory. Of course, he can't get back from the Moon in time and dies a hero's death, so she'll be a bitter, emotionally scarred hermit at the beginning of the sequel next year.
I can't wait!

How funny! This sounds like a terrible B movie from the 50's that you only watch at 2 in the morning when you have insomia LOL!

Think I'll pass on this one....and to whoever above commented on the Misses, you are probably right, I'm sure a character will be created for Mrs. DJE, don't wanna place a bet on this one LOL LOL LOL!

curluplw, how could I have missed that? Of course, in Impact 2: Electric Boogaloo, it will be revealed that DJE actually did make it back from the moon. However, he faked his death due to his suffering from Lunar Flu, which he contracted from a bite from a lunar tick, of course. :-p His former/current/future lover works tirelessly to discover a cure in time to save him, since her character has mysteriously changed professions and is now a medical research scientist specializing in rare diseases.

Has he lost all faith and confidence in his own abilities? Does he have traumatic memory loss with flashes of his former life? Will his memories of astrophysics and his love for his lady come rushing back just as the planet is at the height of mortal peril?

OK - it may be a dumb idea for a miniseries - but if nothing else is on I may give it a shot - so my questions - which network will it air on and when is it supposed to air?

Was the canoe wood, or aluminum? The answer to all of these questions, and more, is, "Maybe!" But all will be revealed in Impact 3: Return to the Lunar Sea.
