HSM Starlet's Nude Pic Goes Public; Disney Mum on "Fired" Rumblings

This news certainly will make mild-mannered Mickey Mouse's ears perk up. Hours after a nude photo of someone resembling Vanessa Hudgens circulated the Internet, the 18-year-old High School Musical star came forth to admit that it is, in fact, her in the pic. In a statement to TMZ, a rep for Hudgens says, "This was a photo which was taken privately. It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate that this has become public."

The Enquirer, which broke the story, claims Hudgens snapped some racy pics for HSM beau Zac Efron. Alas, they fell into nefarious hands (as nude pics of up-and-coming starlets tend to do). "Shooting into a mirror with her camera phone, she took photos of herself stripped except for a gold chain around her waist," writes the tabloid. "She also photographed herself in the tub, blowing kisses... and sensuously pulling down her bikini bottom."

It's enough to make Corbin Bleu turn red. As for Disney, the company thus far is offering a firm "No comment" on talk that Hudgen's "nude awakening" has gotten her dropped from HSM3.

POLL: Should this incident bar Hudgens from doing High School Musical 3? Vote here.

What I don't understand is these young ladies' insistance on posing nude or in compromising positions, and on film on top of that. I swear, this culture of having to be "sexy" is going to be the downfall of many.

When I first read about the news that a HSM star posed nude for a photo, I thought (and hoped) it was Ashley Tisdale since she is 21 years old but I was wrong. It was Vanessa Hudgens.

Everyone should keep in mind that this is Hollywood and sometimes these things are "calculated" (who really would let a nude picture of themselves "accidenly" leak out onto the internet). She probably wanted to break free of her Disney image and so she pulled a "Jessica Biel/Anne Hathaway." Even though she's 18 years old, she wants to be viewed as an adult actress.

It is horrible thing when "private moments" are released to the public eye. But that's why you never keep record of things you don't want seen again.
I hope this doesn't ruin HSM population with Disney...

Matt, as Ausiello would say, you just made me spit Diet Raspberry Snapple all over my computer!

As for the nude pics of Vanessa, well, it really makes no difference to me, I guess. Is my 4 year old going to scour the internet to find them - nope! (Though she probably could; she's freakishly skilled on the computer) But she will still make me put HSM & HSM2 on everytime Disney airs it!

Damn Vanessa, if you didn't want to do HSM3 you could have just said so.

In all seriousness, I feel bad for her even though it was a dumb@ move on her part. The logical thing for Disney to do, since she's "damaged", is drop the HSM franchise and find another bunch of kids to make money off of.

I just read online that Disney has already fired her and they have also already hired someone to take her spot, one of the Cheetah Girls.

I seriously think this is the end of HSM. Zac Efron isnt signed for HSM3 and I doubt he will to it now.

I agree, Zac will probably not sign and I hope that ends the franchise. I'm sure he was ready to move on since he didn't really want to do the HSM2 and I can't blame him. Besides, you can't replace original characters that have impact like that. Disney believes since Adrienne did Cheetah girls, 6 year olds are going to roll over and accept it. I think not.

The fact the V's publicist didn't lie and try to pass the pics as photoshop made me come up with this fun theory: the pics were intended for Zac, so I'm sure he got them, but what if he released them himself so when the ish hit the fan, he could look like the supportive boyfriend by not signing up for HSM3. That way no one would say he was ungrateful and greedy for not signing on. Shoot, both of them could have planned it so they could get adult roles.

That's just too cruel and funny to be true.

You know, I don't feel one way or another about Vanessa or HSM. I like her and the HSM cast as much as anyone else.

However I do feel bad for her. If you're a celeberty (of whatever sort) in this age then somebody if not everybody is out to get you. It's a shame that you can't aquire and enjoy your fame without worring that every little detail of your life is being looked over.

That being said however, when will women learn that they shouldn't take nude photos of themselves? Especially not if they have aspirations of being famous? I mean sure, no one knows now if they're going to become famous in the distant future so why risk it? I'm sure Vanessa is a very beautiful person, but from unscrupulous friends, family, to strangers just out to make a buck at your expense. You'd think women would have learned by now they can still be pretty, they can still be sexy, but with their clothes on.

I don't care about High School Musical at all, but I don't think the photo is that big of a deal, and I don't think they should have fired her. I mean, she's 18. She has every right to send nade pictures of herself to her boyfriend. I really don't quite follow the logic of Disney firing her. Is it because they don't want kids to know that one of their stars looks hot naked? Or is it the fact that she sent her photo to her boyfriend and they don't want kids to think that's acceptable behavior? Do you think she would still be fired if the photos weren't published but she only mentioned that she sent nude photos to her boyfriend in a magazine article?

Met Vanessa briefly just this Wednesday, she's in Australia with Zac promoting Hairspray. She arrived separate from Zac and sure skipped up that red carpet fast at the premiere.

Are we really all that surprised? All the young starlets are boozing it up, taking drugs, flashing their privates and sleeping around. They's a bad infleunce on each other. Twas Britney, Paris, Lindsay and co. Now it's the next generation - Vanessa, Hayden and I'm sure a few others shall pop up soon.

This doesn't change my opinion of her one bit. She's a great girl and made a mistake by trusting whoever leaked this. What a hard lesson, but unfortunately our society seems to love tearing people down. I hope to see her in HSM 3 and my family will continue to love and support her. This doesn't make her a bad girl.
