Housewives Star Helps Whoopi Kick Butts

Thursday on The View, Whoopi Goldberg will get assistance in her mission to give up cigarettes in the form of Mrs. McCluskey, aka Desperate Housewives' Kathryn Joosten. "I'm a lung-cancer survivor — six years cancer-free! — so I'm going to talk to her about quitting smoking," Joosten tells us of her visit, which coincides with the Great American Smokeout and National Cancer Month. "Whoopi's got a target date, and we've got tips on how to make it easier to quit."

Joosten's busy week continues Friday when she reports to NBC's Las Vegas to play "a bingo-obsessed old lady," as she puts it. "What's not to love?" she says of the guest gig. "B-9! G-44!" — With reporting by Michael Maloney

God bless, Kathryn Joosten!

She is one of our National Television Treasures. Any show is made better by her presence.

I would almost even consider watching her episode of Las Vegas.

Note that I said almost -- I mean, we're talking about Las Vegas.

I totally agree, Chappy. I worship at Kathryn Joosten's feet.

Her death was a big huge nail in West Wing's coffin (granted it was better at its worst than most shows are at their peak, but it was just never the same).

How long has Whoopi been planning on giving up smoking? I just wish she'd start trying already! A target date is a good idea...but is it really supposed to be months and months in advance? She said she'd like to give up smoking right after she joined The View in September...

There's only so much time I can give a person to "do research" before I have to consider it stalling!

Can't Whoopi just quit smoking without all the hoopla? I hope she can reach her goal, but it's a little bit ego-centric to make it such a big deal.

For the record, I'll be giving up Cheetos starting on December 18.

And ending on December 18.

So, basically, no Cheetos for me on December 18.

No pain, no gain.

Did you hear that everyone? Chappy's Kickin' Cheetos!

Let's have banners, multiple segments on multiple episodes, guests who can help with snack cravings, theme songs, tribute shows and, on December 18th, a big parade!!!

Orrrrr, Whoopi could just stop smoking. I mean, Chappy could just stop pouring the Cheetos down his gullet.

Do I get to pick my own Special Guest Celebrity Self-Improvement Coach?

If so, I choose Jenna Fischer from The Office. She's just delightful.

To be fair to Whoopi, I think she is dragging out the start date to garner as much attention as possible for the "research" she and her "coaches" are doing to draw viewers/fans in to join her.

To be fair to Chappy, I think anyone who is going to kick the most delicious, crunchy, crispy, stick to your fingers fake orangecheesy goodness ever to come our way deserves a team of Special Guest Celebrity Self-Improvement Coaches! And regional parades! Fireworks!
And on December 19th, much fanfare about the rehab he truly plans to make work this time.

To be fair to me, when I quit soda 2 years ago, I got nothing.

Well, congratulations, curluplw!! -Better late than never for some praise, huh?
Strangely enough,
I did the same thing 2 years ago and didn't get a lick of praise when I replaced soda with vodka!
Go figure?!!?<img border=">;):^O

You all did better than me: I tried to give up sarcasm and withering haughtiness, but all I got was an iTunes season pass for Viva Laughlin!

Which should tell you how long that lasted...

Chappy, you'll never be able to quit Cheetos. Tarzan tried it back in the 40s, but never could quite give him up (although, he did have that cute, little butt back then).

Oh, did you say Cheetos??? Well... :O that's very different!!!

Never mind.

Well thank you, Mr Furley!!
Maybe I should have replaced the soda with vodka instead of Ding-Dongs.
Oh well.

DS9Sisko- withering haughtiness and sarcasm are two of the things that get me through my Pepsiless days...

Matt- when did it stop being your take and start being everyone's take?
Your take is what brings me back every day!
(No offense, Ben)
