House's Jennifer Morrison has been tapped to star in The Murder of Princess Diana, a Lifetime movie based on the Noel Botham book that theorized that Di's fatal car crash was the dirty work of a conspiracy. Morrison will play an American journalist who witnesses the tunnel crash and starts her own investigation after becoming suspicious of the "official" take on what happened. (It should be noted that a recent BBC poll found that 31 percent of British citizens believe Di's death was not an accident.)

An August premiere is slated, timed to the 10th anniversary of Diana's passing.

OMG. Come on! The only thing Jennifer Morrison gets cast in during hiatus is a Princess Diana fiasco?! There is something horribly wrong in the world when Gilmore Girls prematurely ends and somebody can't find a decent summer job for Morrison!

Jennifer Morrison, of the hit TV show House, is doing a Lifetime movie?

Oh Jennifer, you can do much better.

Will this have any bearing on next season of House?

Fortunately, House's storylines won't be affecting whether or not the actors are staying with the show, AFAIK, they are all staying. At least this means that there'll be one hot and wacky Irish chick on the air with Crossing Jordan and Gg not on the air, however impermanently in the latter case. ;)
