Holy Miley! Cyrus-Montana Tour Is Biz's Hottest Ticket

Tickets for Miley Cyrus' concert tour, kicking off later this month, are selling out in minutes at many venues, leaving wannabe parents-of-the-year frustrated and/or faced with exorbitant markups.

"We knew it was hot, but we had no idea it was this crazy," the tour's organizer tells the AP. "It's like the Beatles." (That's Stella McCartney's dad's old band, kiddies.)

Some stats: Cyrus' Memphis show filled 12,000 seats in eight minutes; a ticket for the Charlotte, North Carolina, show went for $2,565; though the tour caps ticket prices at $65, the average resale is $214, besting Timberlake, Beyoncé and The Police.

While scalpers use computer programs to scarf up lotsa tickets superfast and to pass them on at massive margins, a spokesperson for StubHub advises moms and dads: "The prices you see now are not the prices that are going to hold. Parents need to set a price that they are comfortable with and watch the market." And brace for a tantrum.

My daughter is a big Hannah Montana fan and i went online to look for tix and they were outrageously expensive.I just wish before ticket prices r made they need to realize not everyone has a high income or a credit card and i tink they need to make the tickets more reasonably priced so everyone has a chance to go.

I don't think kids are going to know what "Wings" means either. How about that's Stella McCartney's dad's old band.

I can't figure out how it's legal for all these ticket companies to buy in bulk and then resell at such huge prices...I saw on the news the other day that the attorney general in two states have already started to try to change the way the system works and I may contact mine in Kentucky. I love the internet but miss the days of camping in front of the arenas to get good tickets---it was guaranteed you were going to a show....back in my day (and I'm only 32) if you had a couple extra tickets you found a friend of a friend who wanted to go and they would pay you face value for your tickets. Now people are taking advantage of other people especially with the whole ebay thing....I offered a woman $100 for a $22 ticket and she turned it down cuz it wasnt enough....I wonder how she sleeps at night. I guess gone are the days of good honest people who will work for a living and would rather take advantage of people. I sure wasnt raised that way.

Good call, Xyn; edited.

I agree about the ticket scalping and the ridiculously over priced tickets, but don't give Hannah Montana or Miley Cyrus all the credit for all the hype over her new concert tour this winter! Don't get me wrong, she's great, but I know for a fact that most, it's fair to say even half or more of the ticket-buyers are going because the Jonas Brothers are "Guest Starring". If you didn't know, the Jonas Brothers' new CD Debut Concerts (yes ConcertS) were all sold out as well in the same amount of time as these concerts! So basically what I'm saying is, don't forget the Jonas Brothers because they are Amazing, and they deserve just as much credit (if not more) as Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus.

I agree that it's a terrible system that allows the low-lifes and bottom feeders of the world to buy these tickets up the way they do and sell them at extraordinary prices. But a lot of the blame goes to the parents too. If they weren't out there paying those ridiculous prices, then the low-lifes would be out of business and we could get back to buying the tickets at a fair and reasonable price. I love my daughter and would love to take her and her friends to a Hannah Montana concert, but I'll never pay a dime over what I would pay legally through proper channels. At the very least, this situation has created a great teachable moment for my daughter. I've explained why I won't buy these tickets at inflated prices and thereby encouraging and participating in illegal and immoral behavior. She's 11 and is disappointed not to get to go, but does understand and supports my reasons. Most of the parents are out there complaining about this situation, then encourage and support it by buying these over-priced tickets...

We attempted to get tickets to the concert, but we have now given up.

We read that if you were part of the fan club that you can get advanced tickets. Of course it costs to join the fan club. We read that if you bought the cd you could get a code that would get you a fan club membership. We bought 1 cd, but alas there was no code. We bought a second cd and it worked. However, we were only allowed a couple of tickets. We have 4 daughter. How do you tell 2 that they can go and 2 that they cannot.

So, basically we wasted money to join a fan club to get tickets that we could not get. It is very frustrating.

I hit the "purchase" button ONE SECOND after the tickets went on sale - any seat, any price - and they were already sold out by the time the window changed. I tried for two hours to get them for my niece and two others, to no avail.

Someone with some power truly needs to step in and stop the on line scalping. It's illegal to do it anywhere else; why is it legal online? The whole thing has soured my niece on Hannah Montana; that is, after she got over her hurt that her mother and I 'failed' to get those tickets.

Shame on the parents who allow their children to spent $200 - $1,200 on one ticket. What a terrible, terrible lesson they are teaching their children.

I tried to buy tickets through her website also, with no luck. We are traveling to the Cleveland area during Christmas break and thought it would be fun to attend since we will be there. Ticketmaster would NOT allow us to buy tickets since we weren't in a 60 mile radius of Cleveland. My husband stayed home from work that day to purchase the tickets. On Sat. you had to be within a 100 mile radius for the first 30 min. to buy tickets. I understand the reasoning, but during Christmas vacation, people do travel!!!!

I am one of the lucky ones that got tickets, however fully frustrated at what I had to pay for where we are sitting. Not only do I have to drive 3 hours one way for the concert but I paid 39.50 to be extremely far away from the stage. I have to agree with the mom traveling during Christmas break - my father who lives on the West Coast wanted to buy the tickets as a Christmas present for my girls, but tickets were only available to an area around the arena. What gets me is that if you wanted any type of good seat you had to pre-buy, which meant for us, two 6 hour round trips to stand in line twice for tickets! And if tickets are only limited to 4 per person why are these scalpers & radio stations allowed to scoop up hundreds of seats. This concert is truly for tweeners and kids, yet those are the ones suffering.

Why can't something be done about the scalpers? This isn't at all fair to anyone, much less the people who can barely afford the tickets as it is!

I have to agree with all the statements regarding "legalized" scalping. I have wondered about this for a long time now. I live in MA and it is legal, somehow, but they will arrest you if you try to sell a ticket yourself outside a venue over the face value. I was fortunate to get 2 tix b/c a friend joined the club, but even with that, there was no guarantee. I tried to get more tix for friends on Saturday via telephone from the soccer field, but only single seats were available within the first minutes. There really should be consideration of this being a "tween" event and prices should reflect that. And there is no way that I would go and pay anymore than face value and have had many folks tell me that I should just sell my tix and make money. I agree, it's just wrong.
