Are You Ready for High School Musical... 4?
High School Musical 2 cast by Bob D'Amico/ABC
This fall's big-screen debut of High School Musical 3 may not be the most anticipated chapter in the franchise anymore. Of course, that's only because there is already the promise of a High School Musical 4.
Disney Channel Worldwide president Rich Ross on Tuesday confirmed that a script is currently being drafted, adding that — at least for now — the newest film would be a TV-movie rather than a theatrical release. Although casting at this point is still up in the air, Ross hopes to retain some of the original ensemble, which is currently gearing up to shoot HSM 3 in Utah.
Are you excited about the newest chapter, or do you fear the franchise is getting ahead of itself? — Adam Bryant

I think they're definitely getting ahead of themselves. I love HSM and all, but I think a trilogy is a great way to end the huge success they've had. The cast is growing up, the music is growing old, and the storylines can't possibly be getting incredibly fantastic. Let the kids be free, Disney...just, let them go...

No surprise...when HSM2 was getting ready to debut, it was widely reported that Disney was planning both a 3rd and 4th HSM feature. Both probably to be in theaters.
So really, the only surprise here is that the 4th one might *not* be in theaters.

wow they really are gettin ahead of themselves...
I can see it *only* if they get a different cast for 4. Otherwise they really wouldn't be able to call it "high school" musical anymore w/ all these 25+ year old actors on it.

I say go for it but only if they can get the original cast. It just wont be the same if they don't. I probably won't watch if they don't.

don't quite get it. HSM3 is supposed to be their senior year. it will have to be an all new cast. i enjoyed the first one, and since it was part of my theater season, i saw the show but i think they are going to exhaust themselves.

AHHHH MAKE IT DIE A HORRIBLE DEATH!
What's up with going theatrical and then back to TV? Not that I care either way, but that sounds stupid.
I just don't think they are THAT big of a deal. This isn't Star Wars people, we don't need the 4th to be them in middle school or something.
SIGH!

Yeah I agree Heartables...I'm boycotting the theatrical version...When it & the soundtrack are released I'm just going to download them online...They are cutting out a major chunk of their audience by making it hit theaters...I'm almost 20 & yeah I love the series but come on, do you really think that I'll sit in a theater with a sold out crowd of crying, screaming, singing tween, teen, little girls all fawning over Zac & the rest??
& I bet it will do well no matter what I say...I say that it either should have started in theaters OR continue on tv.
Disney is sucking the HSM name dry, I heard that in New Mexico, there were HSM crackers (food) on sale in a local grocery store...
I Knew they were going to do a 4th, I mean they casted 3 new teens to play sophomores, I'd bet a lot of money that they do atleast 2 more (HSM 4 & 5) to get those sophomores to seniors.
Well I'm done ranting for the moment, does anyone have anything else to add?

Of course High School Musical 4 will be a new class. With the introduction of 3 new characters in HSM3 who are NOT seniors, it will be certain that they will be the ones to carry on the gig. That's unless, the orignal class will all fail their senior year, lol, j/k, that would not be cool at all.

It was hard enough getting all of the main 6 to sign up for HSM3, so it's highly unlikely they will be in the 4th. As it continues, I'm sure it will gain new fans as the old grow up. It's quite a money machine for Disney, so the franchise will be around for quite some time.

Can't they just let this series die a natural death? NO MORE. I trust that one day we are not reading articles like this about HSM 25.
