Zachary Quinto by Paul Drinkwater/NBC

So, Sulu is on Heroes and Sylar is off on a Star Trek? Is that how it's going to be? Zachary Quinto, aka the hit NBC drama's sinewy supervillain, has been tapped to slap some latex triangles on his ears and portray a young Spock in Lost boss J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Trek feature film, sources confirm.

Presented with the casting buzz, Heroes creator Tim Kring told TVGuide.com that he would be "thrilled" to see Quinto get his Vulcan on.

Officially, a rep for Abrams' Bad Robot shingle has yet to comment on the casting, though we hear it will be announced this week at (where else) the San Diego Comic-Con.

If Zachary Quinto aka Sylar does get the Spock gig I hope they do a movie where he gets to play the alternate universe "Evil" Spock. I'm getting chills just thinking about it.

I think Zachary Quinto would do a good job, as Spock. He even looks like Leonard Nimoy a bit.

I think he would make a good fit. He has a bit of eeriness to him that makes it an intriguing cast pick. I'm excited to see the outcome of this project...hopefully in line (and with a bigger budget) with the reinvention of Battlestar Galactica.

Now, if they can bring on BSG's Jamie Bamber to play a young Kirk; this movie might not be a complete train wreck....

Seems like this is really getting to be official news. I've been following the rumors of this story ever since Zach said he would be interested in the role. I can't wait for the Comic Con announcement for the rest of the cast. Congrats ZQ!
