HBO Looks to New Boss to Regain Buzz

HBO has hired a top TV talent agent to help find the pay cable network’s next big hit. Sue Naegle, most recently a partner and co-head of the television department at United Talent Agency, is taking the job as president of HBO Entertainment and will oversee all series programming and specials. As an agent, Naegle put together the deal for Six Feet Under (one of HBO’s most acclaimed hits) and also brought the network its upcoming Southern vampire series, True Blood.

Naegle replaces longtime HBO exec Carolyn Strauss, who left the network. While HBO has remained enormously profitable, it hasn’t generated the kind of buzzworthy hits that viewers have come to expect from the network that brought them The Sopranos and Sex and the City. — Stephen Battaglio

lets hope they can find a hit. I really liked "In Treatment" but I thought John From Cincinnatti was one of the worst shows I have ever seen (we lost deadwood for that turd?) and Tell Me You Love me was bleh/depressing (why on earth was it renewed?). not upto HBO standards lately..and with The Wire gone, they have no A+ shows at the moment, although Big Love got alot better in season 2

I'm in the minority, but "John From Cincinnati" was one of my all-time favorite shows. I was completely addicted to it, and so was my husband.

What I'm hoping though, is that this new president sees fit to go back and give Deadwood the promised proper send-off it deserves by letting the production company produce the two final movies we were supposed to get after its cancellation! It went out with a wimper, when it should have been a bang!
