Harry Potter's Pals Pact for Prince and Finale
This just in from Warner Bros. Pictures:
"Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson will reprise the roles they have made their own: teen wizards Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, respectively, in Warner Bros. Pictures' Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final two motion-picture adaptations of J.K. Rowling's best-selling book series."
Watson, who was rumored to be a holdout as recently as Monday, says in a statement, "I could never let Hermione go — she is my hero! I love her too much and love what playing her has meant to me. I am excited and honoured to be finishing what I started and playing her in all seven of the films."
What's Parseltongue for, "Back up the Brinks truck?"

I'm glad to hear this.
I don't know if the rumors about Emma Watson not wanting to be forever known as "the girl from the Harry Potter movies" were true, but if she didn't sign on she'd just be known as "the girl who ruined the Harry Potter movies" instead.

Thank goodness all that NONSENSE you posted before was cleared up. I notice you never did mention that your source for the original "Emma dropping out" story was a TABLOID RAG, known for being about as accurate as the National Inquirer.

Well, that's good. The whole "They'll be in their twenties playing teenagers" excuse was always a silly one. Swapping out Harry Potter's faces would be worse.

Kudos, Matt, for reporting this before the Harry Potter Automatic News Aggregator - I think you should be off the hook with the superfans now!

Actually, Potch, I cited the source from Moment 1, and amended the item to be more "fair" to Ms. Emma. Apology accepted!

I'm glad to see this news is making posters happy. I was afraid I would come here and read a bunch of posts about Emma being greedy. I don't know what she wrangled out of the producers, but (even though I haven't seen any of the movies) the fans seem to be saying she's worth every penny. I'm pleased to see they won't have to endure a needless recast.

I'm very happy to hear they will all be back for the last 2 books. Change would've been bad and they really won't be that much older than the characters they were playing. I mean the people on the OC were recent high school graduates and a few of them were 26, 27, 28.
Although I must say, Emma Watson was tons better in the first 2 movies - she became very un-Hermione in the last two and while I do think she is talented, I don't find her to be super duper-y talented as everyone seems to think she is. Just my 2 knuts -

You kinda knew she'd cave. It was all an act. Funny to've been discovered while a little girl in school to star in Harry Potter and pull the "I don't wanna be Hermione forever" thing. She wouldn't have been playing anybody for the last several years or the next several years. What would you like to bet that she never would've become and actress period? Such a whirlwind experience is probably what helped her even end up in this career and she knows the number of fans it would honk off if she didn't. That's one smart girl though, giving Warner Bros. a heart attack and herself a nice paycheck. Can't blame her and I can't say that the more savvy fans didn't figure this out but did she have to scare the younger kids? Some are pretty fanatical little ones, bless'em. I bet a few took it seriously and cried.

Older people are used to play parts of younger all the time - they are more dependable. So, the age thing isn't a big deal at all - IMO. I'm glad she'll be back. If they had done a careful recast it would have been fine, but it's nice to know we'll have the same familiar face. Everyone else is getting rich off this - why shouldn't she?
