Lost Star Finds Unusual New Gig at ABC

And boom, just like that, Harold Perrineau finds work. Mere days after having Michael's fate veritably sealed during the season finale of Lost, the actor has joined the cast of The Unusuals, an ABC dramedy pilot set at a New York police precinct.

According to the Reporter, Perrineau will play Leo Banks, an always-agitated detective who never takes off his Kevlar vest, worried that he might die. (Sounds like someone needs a reality check from Mr. Friendly.) — Matt Mitovich

I hope if the pilot does not get picked up that Mr. Perrineau chooses to NOT pull the race card like he did in his latest interview with TV Guide.

While I agree that it was foolish to bring his character back on LOST for such a small part, it was ungracious and in bad form for him to blame it all on his heritage.

This guy has got to be kidding. He actually believes that his demise on Lost is due to his 'blackness'. This is so typical of many blacks in show business these days. Didn't get an Emmy or Oscar; it must be because I'm black. Well, the more I hear blacks claim racial discrimination the show- business work place, the less likely I am to care one hoot about them, period. I don't care if this guy ever has another job. Let him go out and really work for a living like the rest of us. He's doing better than most middle and upper middle class whites; wow! And still pulling the race card. He should be ashamed.

Harold Perrineau should be commended for talking straight about his beliefs. As for the racial aspects of his comments to TV Guide if one just looks at the deplicitions of African Americans on television his view is often true. Why was his character killed? Why was he separated from his son? Could racial stereotypes be at play? Perhaps it was.

I don't think that Mr. Perrineau was blaming his "death" on his race or that he was "playing the race card" as some may think but he was talking about an issue that many African Americans have been talking about for years.

Yes, Perrineau's return was all-too brief - but Lost is a top-rated show with alot of buzz which only could have benefitted his career, and, sure enough, he's landed a pilot.

I can understand being disappointed, but, geez, how about a little bit of grattitude?

What does "has been joined the cast" mean?

he was so annoying in his exit interview regarding Lost that I'm not too hip to see him in this new show...never liked his character on Lost, anyway

Well, clearly MOanbo isn't AFRICAN-AMERICAN due to the comment left (And if you're wondering, I am of mixed race). I can understand where Harold is coming from considering of all the main characters on the show who are African-American, two of them have been killed (although the man playing Mr. Eko asked to leave due to his parents' deaths) and two we hardly see (Rose & Walt). So I can see where he's coming from. I don't think that the producers or writers are racist, but I do think it was absolutely pointless to ask him to return just to give him a handful of episodes and then kill him off. Hopefully they can rectify him not being able to have a scene with his son by him showing up as a ghost like half the other dead characters have.

Obviously a typo. Fixed.

I totally agree with Harold. This was one of the biggest mistakes and most wasted character in the shows history.

This, in combination with many other things definitely made season 4 sub par.

sub-par?!?!?! This was the most riveting season yet - the acting was incredible and the writing was fantastic. Wow - I really don't get what people expect...

I agree with Mr. Perrineau that it's so cliche to leave Walt fatherless & living with his grandmother, but I hadn't realized till I read this today that he & everyone else on the boat were really dead, because I could swear I saw Dae Kim's Jin getting killed AFTER his baby is born, which would be about 9 months later. I just figured anyone in that explosion could've survived. Oh well.

There is no such thing as an african-american. You're either American or not. Your continent of origin is not relevant. Why is it that blacks get to change their racial identity every few years but whites are still white? Believe it or not, not all Africans are black. What do the whites who migrate to America call themselves? I don't refer to myself as a North American American. If you're a citizen then you're an American. If I want to know someone's ethnic background, I'll ask. It isn't supposed to be relevant, at least according to blacks and hispanics, yet all want to continue to identify themselves by their continental or ethnic background. Get a grip. You're either a plumber, an electrician, a CEO, an actor, etc., but stop referring to yourselves as African American whatever. Those who are not white seem to be the ones most often pointing it out. But if anyone pulls the race card out, no matter how subtle some seem to think it was done, nevertheless, it's still the race card and I for one am sick and tired of it. There is plenty of un-fairness to go around.

Jin's scenes were flashBACKs which ran simultaneously with Sun's flashFORWARDs so that, until the end of the episode, we believed that Jin WAS with Sun. He was not. His was a flashback to early in his marriage to Sun when he was a grunt for Sun's father, Mr. Paik.

At the end of the episode, we see Sun next to Jin's grave, where the marker says his date of death was 9-22-2004, the date of the crash. It is part of the Oceanic Six's lie. Whether or not Jin perished in the explosion of the freighter is up for debate. Some people believe he may have jumped off the ship in time.

Arlene - Are you thinking of the epi where Jin was buying the panda? 'cuz that was a Flashback/Flashforward epi. Everything happening to Jin in that epi was a flashBACK and what happened to Sun was a flashFORWARD (I was confused until I hit the blog myself).

For me Michael's exit made perfect sense, and I am very sad that he doesn't realize what an evolution his character went thru.

Michael was not a great guy. He killed two women that he didn't have to. It was his choice to go that route to save his son. Then he is so weak he has to share his guilt with his son. His character redeemed himself with the sacrifice he made to save the island people (and he tried to save Jin too - if only he would have left 30 seconds earlier). Michael's character evolved. It's sad that he can't see that, and instead has to play the race card. Just 'cuz he didn't like what the writers did.

I really don't think he watches the show. If he did, he would have realized that dead isn't necessarily dead. (hello - Eko playing chess with Hurley!!) But I bet any thought they may have had about him "returning" went out the window.

Best of luck in his new show - doesn't sound like my type, so I prolly won't watch.
