In Harmon's Way: NCIS Replaces Show Boss
As first hinted at and then ultimately scooped this Saturday by TVGuide.com's Ausiello Report, NCIS creator Donald P. Bellisario is stepping down as show-runner, this on the heels of reports of on-set clashes between him and series star Mark Harmon. Bellisario's duties will likely be assumed by coexecutive producer Chas Floyd Johnson and head writer Shane Brennan.
In a statement, CBS Paramount president David Stapf hails Bellisario, who sired NCIS predecessor JAG, for building not only "a top-rated show but a great producing team that provides terrific continuity for the years ahead."

That's fine and I'm sure he has, but let's hope his assistants are more organized and less last minute than Bellisario himself.

The same thing happened years ago on Magnum PI. Bellisario had to turn over creative control to Selleck at the beginning of season 7. I agree that he sounds difficult to work with, but I love the look and feel of his shows when he's in control. Magnum's quality to a big hit in seasons 7 and 8. Let's hope NCIS is spared that fate.

I'm glad that Don stepped down and realized the quality work that is being done by a quality cast and crew. I'm sure it will make for a more enjoyable hiatus for everyone knowing that they are not coming back to the high tension. Now if they would only get rid of the Jenny(Director) role it would be fantastic.
