Exclusive: Grey's Triangle Not Over So Soon?
Patrick Dempsey and Lauren Stamile by Craig Sjodin/ABC
Rose is no shrinking violet when it comes to getting McDumped by McDreamy.
Given the cozy, candle-burning climax of Grey's Anatomy's season finale, it's no big surprise that Lauren Stamile's run as Derek's squeeze may be nearing its end. But the typically oh-so-nice nurse won't be scrubbed out quietly.
Sources tell me exclusively that when Rose is excised from the superstar surgeon's love life, though she plays it cool with Mer, she is far from Zen about the whole thing with the boyfriend. "I'd count on at least one emotional outburst," previews a setsider. "Rose is not her usual composed self with Derek."
What's more, although as recently as this afternoon the talk was that Stamile would only appear in the two-hour season opener, there are now rumblings that Rose may remain a thorn in the supercouple's side just a tiny bit longer.
What's your take? Would you have liked to see Meredith be given a more formidable rival? Or can no mere mortal stand in the way of the Mer-Der romance? — Matt Mitovich

Grrr. NO! Ok fine, so I would like to see Rose back in the season opener, but no more. We've had so much MerDer drama already; we don't need any more. I want to see them deal with normal couple issues like moving in together or having kids or something. No more love triangles with Meredith and Derek plz!

I agree with the previous poster. Please, no more love triangle drama with the MerDer thing. Don't drag it out. Let them deal with normal couple things other than that. Grey's was a must see show for me the first two seasons, but I was finding it hard to stick with the show this last season after the Izzie/George thing. If this gets drawn out or, heaven forbid, Rose ends up pregnant after finally sleeping with Derek, I'm not sure I want to tune in to the next season.

Wow..what a liar Shonda is if this is true. Rhimes said her core cuople of Meredith and Derek would be together "for good" and she reported to TV Guide first and now we might have another stupid love triangle AGAIN? This cannot be what Dempsey or Pompeo want as both have been vocal about the realistic relationship of Mer/Der for both season four and five. The Rose character was the most poorly written character in the show's history and ratings showed she was not a fan favorite. My gosh, how desperate is Shonda Rhimes for milking out the Mer/Der relationship story rather than just trusting the fans are mature enough to handle some decent stories for them (for a change) The more I think about it, the more I think Katherine Heigl is right about the writing of this show. Goodbye future ratings..hello dumb love triangle, cast bloat and poorly written unneeded characters. What happened to Grey's will be written about someday in an artilce titled something like "How to Kill a Show in 2 and a Half Seasons the Shonda Rhimes Way" Truly sad.

The article doesn't say Mer and Der won't be together.... just that Rose isn't going to be making it easy for Derek... cool it....
I'm happy that Meredith and Derek will be back together, but I'd like to see Rose stick around on the show. The thing I love about Grey's is that characters brought in as love interests for existing cast members stick around long after the relationships end (see Callie and Mark).

Yawn. Guess the MerDer teen angst will play on. Nothing against the character or actress but I don't see a point since the creator has already told the audience that her golden couple will be together forever.

I am glad Rose will be back. I wonder if they are gonna place her character with Mark.Erica and Mark had mad chemistry, and I still have high hopes this Callica business won't last!

Good. Derek was kind of a jerk to her. It was painfully obvious that she was head over heels about him and insecure all by herself even WITHOUT the looming ex-girlfriend. He used her as a rebound and didn't really think about her feelings very much. I definitely want Meredith and Derek together, but Rose has potential to be likable on her own. And I think she's earned the right to at least one outburst against him.

There's a HUGE difference between "love triangle continues" and "Rose gives them a hard time after they finally end up together." The latter seems to be what the article's saying.
Derek was hardly Rose's "boyfriend" - they were dating. Being significant others takes a little more than those two had so far.

I wouldn't mind seeing Rose for the first episode of Grey's, but only to tie up lose ends for her character. She is done and needs to be gone. There is plenty of drama available for M&D without adding a love triangle to the mix. It has been done before, and frankly Rose has known that Derek is not over Meredith. She has said as much and while she deserves the chance to yell at McDreamy for using her, which he was, she knew that is was just a matter of time before they were together again. Its time to say Goodbye, and good ridnance, to Rose! Please Shonda, don't do this to us again, if this love triangle drags out I won't be able to watch this show that I love. I wasn't able to watch last season after the whole breakup and when the charachter of Rose first came on. I only started watching it again when she said and promised that they would be getting back together FOR GOOD by the end of the season. And I loved how she handled it, and how they are both coming into it this time clean. That this time there was no cheating, that he stopped and said he needed to talk to Rose first. I hope that you start the new season just as beautifuly, with a clean and fresh start for MerDer, and the closure that Rose and her chapter in their story deserves.

Good Lord Shonda, give it a rest!!! Didn't the steady deline in the ratings for Season 4 give you any clues to get rid of the Rose character?

This show has gotten more and more pathetic. I'm glad I stopped watching it this season.
