ABC on Monday announced pickups for nine of its shows. The list includes such usual suspects as Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters and Ugly Betty, and also offers a few pleasant if somewhat taken-for-granted freshman surprises. Among the first-year shows granted fall returns are Dirty Sexy Money, Justice League of Alternative Medicine Private Practice, Pushing Daisies and Samantha Who?

This is shaping up to be a good week, no?

Well, maybe not for the folks at Women's Murder Club. Check out Ausiello's chart at TVGuide.com/ShowStatus for the latest on that ABC newbie.

Great news, especially for Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money. Gotta admit I'm a bit surprised about Private Practice. I hope WMC survives.

Yay! PD, DSM, Samantha! :-D

But, where's Boston Legal? :( I hope this doesn't mean ABC is gonna get rid of it :O

polar: Because it is a fun guilty pleasure. Now go watch those last few remaining episodes of "October Road" while you can and let us fans of good TV enjoy the moment.

Was there ever really any doubt that Pushing Daisies wouldn't be back? The thought never entered my mind. Same for DSM and Samantha Who.

OSUBuckley:

I don't watch October Road (which would also be a stupid pick-up), but thanks. DSM was loosing viewers week after week as the audience rejected it. It doesn't have anywhere near the ratings to merit a pick-up on ABC.

I'm happy for Pushing Daisies, but I'm more concerned about Reaper right now.

Great news about DSM and Pushing Daisies. I guess I'm going to have to watch Samantha Who, everyone is raving about it.

Private Practice can go away as far as I'm concerned. This fall before the strike, I actually turned my television OFF between Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money, so bad is PP.
