Journeyman Joins Grey's... to Cure What Ails Xtina?

ABC is not officially confirming the news yet, but reliable sources tell me that Rome-ing Journeyman Kevin McKidd has just signed on the dotted line to join ABC's Grey's Anatomy for its upcoming season.

Playing a surgeon who arrives at Seattle Grace fresh from a tour of duty in Iraq, McKidd will first be (barely) glimpsed during the two-hour season premiere. McKidd's character, by some accounts, ultimately will play doctor with Cristina, who has been nursing a broken heart and a seriously bruised ego ever since you-know-who didn't stop talking skedaddled out of Seattle a season ago.

Word of McKidd's possible casting first appeared at EW.com.— Matt Mitovich

Thanks for the scoop, Matt. (And Mike! we miss you.)

Do you know if McKidd is joining for the full season or is it just a recurring role?

Tour in Iraq? With the British military or American military? Accent or no accent? I need to know the answer to that.

I seriously can't wait now - because before I really couldn't care less about GA anymore. I really, really liked him on Journeyman (never seen Rome) - and I'm excited that he's found work on another show so quickly.

Whohoo!

ALthough I miss Burke I am so excited to see Kevin McKidd joining the cast. I loved him in Journeyman and was upset that NBC canceled that show. I hope he is going it be a full-time cast member!

Welcome Kevin!!!!!!

Thank goodness they are finally doing something with Cristina. Sandra Oh is too good of an actress to be wasted like she was most of last season.

Hmm...I didn't need another reason to watch Grey's, but with Kevin McKidd on, I'll be even *more* certain to keep watching! And I hope it's with the accent....mmmmmmmm..... :)

Ahhhhh! You've made my millenium, Matt Mitovich! I'm gonna have to start watching Grey's again to get my McK fix. Though may I suggest having McKidd use a sword and spear to perform surgery? Roman justice is good for what ails ya.

And whenever the cast members wax whiny McKidd could lop off a few heads, kind of like a drinking game. When Meredith whines about McDreamy just wack off a limb or two. And when Christina gets snarky give her a couple jabs with a spear.

This of course reunites McKidd with Patrick Dempsey, his co-star in Made of Honor. Does that mean we can expect another McKidd/Dempsey throwdown over a woman? And did Dempsey recommend him to Shonda? Whatever--I can't wait!

Ya know having been a Burke fan (that's Dr. Burke NOT Isiah Washington) I have been missing his presence since he left but this news could just make me feel better. Ok it totally does!

Lucius Vorenus!!!!!! I love him! I miss Rome but I am very happy they went out on a high note instead of dragging the story along. McKidd will be great for Christina...she needs a man with edge and kindness and I think that will work out great. I'm still pissed at Washington for his big mouth...Burke & Christina could have been a power couple! Oh well...moving on. OH, I must say I was not in complete awe with Grey's last season, although I still LOVE the show; however, I was very happy with how they wrote Christina. Not everyone is able to move on. She can be so callous at times...it's great that Shonda decided to showcase her humanity and pain throughout the season instead of making her hook up and move on as if she wasn't left at the altar. What happened to her is life changing and although she handled it in her Christina way, she still had to deal and that's closer to reality then...well, giving medical assistance to a dear! (Just saying...?<img border=">) It also was nice to see that even when you think you are moving on, something can happen that knocks you off your feet and hurts so bad it's beyond comprehension (Burke getting the award/article & not mentioning her). So I'm happy they did that with her character...it will be more believable now when she does move on.

I'm so happy that Kevin McKidd is coming to Greys!!! I LOVED LOVED him in Rome and I thought Journeyman was a good show that wasn't given time to develop its audience...what shall we call him? Mcsexy? McMc since he's Scottish? lol
