Expanded Idol Postpones Gilmore Creator's Return

The Return of Jezebel James by Michael Lavine/FOX

Fox has announced that the American Idol results show will be expanded to a full hour as of March 12, a bit sooner than planned. As a result, Gilmore girl Amy Sherman-Palladino's The Return of Jezebel James no longer will "sneak preview" in the choice apres-Idol slot. Instead, JJ will debut with back-to-back episodes on Friday, March 14, at 8 pm/ET. Friday at 8, yeah. No happy Return there.

Oh come on. Results shows really only need to be 5 minutes long. 10, if they're having a guest judge perform. Thank heavens for Tivo, I can just FF through the painful recaps and filler and find out who got kicked off.

Wow. Fox really, really hates Jezebel James.

Oh well, since this season really doesn't count anyway due to the strike, time to write to Warner Studio's Peter Roth and ask him to commission Amy to create an 8-episode *real* finale to Gilmore Girls. Pair it with Friday Night Lights on The CW on, uh, Friday Nights. Or direct to DVD (via Warner's D2DVD label Warner Premiere) ala what Scrubs might have to do for its final episodes.

I'm actually not kidding.

Gilmore girls and friday night lights!! throw in veronica mars and I would stay home on friday nights : )
