Following George Carlin's death, HBO announced it will remember the famed comedian with a series of encore presentations of his specials for the network, spanning the breadth of his work. Carlin's most recent special, "George Carlin: It's Bad for Ya," which debuted in March, will air again Friday, June 27 at 9 pm/ET on HBO.

Along with "Bad for Ya," HBO2 has stacked Wednesday, June 25 and Thursday, June 26, with back-to-back Carlin specials, starting at 8 pm/ET each night, and running through 1 am/ET. If you're missing the edgy entertainer already, HBO's lineup seems like a bittersweet way to recall his finer, funnier moments. — Anna Dimond

A few months ago on IFC or Encore or somewhere I stumbled upon a George Carlin/HBO special from the 70's - and even then there were a few words bleeped out! But he was still so unbelievably funny, and it was such a contrast to how angry and bitter he seemed in his later years.

Someone once suggested that comedians in general are angry at their core b/c they see the world through sharp eyes. And I guess as they get older, they turn into grumpy old men just like eveyone else, but with an edge.

George Carlin was always a favorite but I had to quit watching him because his language became so foul in the last several years. He was extremely humorous and did not need the foul language for his act.

George Carlin's wordplay jokes -- particularly those that didn't need bleeping -- will always hold a special place in my heart. I was saddened to learn of his death. I was also saddened by the increasing bitterness that seemed to invade his routines as the years went by. I pray he's now left all that anger, frustration, & perhaps despair behind. Rest In Peace.
