Dirt Nap: Courteney Cox's Series Is Canceled

Courteney Cox Arquette, akin to her Dirt alter ego, offered up some scoop at Sunday's "A Time for Heroes" Celebrity Carnival, benefiting the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation: Her FX series is folding. "It just got canceled," she shared when asked about the prospect of a Season 3 pickup. (Season 2 was cut short by the WGA strike.)

Cox, however, seemed optimistic about the future. She and hubby David, with whom she produced Dirt, have their own shingle, and as such, "We’re developing all kinds of stuff right now," she said. "We'll producing more stuff together, for sure." — Matt Mitovich, with reporting by Bekah Wright

Crap! I really liked this show. It's funny though because some of the new shows that are coming on (no matter which channer--In Plain Sight, Swingtown, etc.) I am putting on my DVR for a couple of weeks before watching them because by the time you get engrossed in a show, it gets cancelled! So I'm hoping to save myself the disappointment!

Hopefully the Arquettes will come up with another good one--I for one will tune in!

I really liked this show.

Seriously? I don't how it managed to get a second season. I've seen better shows canceled after just a few episodes on network TV.

I am putting on my DVR for a couple of weeks before watching them because by the time you get engrossed in a show, it gets cancelled!

It's people with this kind of attitude that helps to get shows canceled.

I don't miss Assiell*'s (mispelled deliberately)snark one bit.

THESE COLUMNISTS EITHER DON'T CARE ABOUT THE POWER OF INFLUENCE THEY HAVE ON A PERSON'S ABILITY TO JUDGE FOR THEMSELVES ABOUT A SHOW.......OR THEY DON'T KNOW THEY HAVE THIS POWER, the latter being the truer statement.

"They've" killed more than one show that didn't need killing by their opinionated snide.

DARN !! What are they replacing it with, I wonder..?? Well, unless it appeals to ignorant adolescent males, many shows just don't have a good chance of surviving. MANY shows should have been cut some slack because of the chaos the writers strike caused. This was a cool show and showed a side of the business most have no hint of. It was written for adults, not kids. Which means I need to re-think what channels I regularly view... I am not looking for g-rated stupidity.

sorry, my favorite friend and really liked the show. I must be a non-entity to the TV world because almost everything I like gets cancelled.

While gritty, at least Dirt offers a unique subject matter. My oldest daughter and I never missed an episode. It is a real shame when a show is canceled that viewers truly enjoy. SHAME ON YOU FX!

wildbill, people who DVR shows don't get them cancelled!! Where did you get that idea? The ratings take account of time-shifting. Otherwise, we might assume that Veronica Mars got low ratings cos it's fans waited a few days to watch it, while CSI gets huge ratings cos everybody watches it live.

Cobby, I don't really think critics/reviewers have any power over what people watch. No written review, no matter how snide, will convince millions of viewers to stay away from a show they already like/watch. The world just doesn't work that way.
