Fox's Drive Screeches to Another, Final Halt

Fox's Drive, which was to resurface with its final two episodes on July 4, then had that send-off pushed back to this Friday, instead has been pulled over and off the airwaves for what appears to be a final time. As stated in a July 13/July 20 scheduling update issued by the network, "There are no plans to air Drive's remaining two episodes on Fox."

Instead, Fox this Friday will air a Bones repeat followed by the penultimate episode of Standoff (which actually gets to wrap up its run on the 20th).

I'll give y'all a holler the instant I hear of any plans to stream Drive's final episodes online.

Fans of Nathan Fillion, meanwhile, can take heart in the fact that the actor is returning to his soap opera roots — albeit only for a day — when One Life to Live sends Joey Buchanan's grandpaw, Asa, to that big ol' ranch in the sky on Friday, August 17. See Soaps News for more.

Hmm. Joss Whedon has said he won't work with Fox again. Maybe the other Firefly people should take the same stand.

Hey, now, don't give Summer Glau any ideas! I need her on The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Well, I'll reserve judgment on that just for you, Matt. But, if they cut TSCC short . . .

Kevin Reilly is really looking like our only hope at this network.

Yeah, but how am I going to watch The Sarah Connor Chronicles if it's on Fox. Because I have used up all my faith, patience and trust in their decision making, and I'm just going to wait until S7 of 24 comes out on DVD and then I'm done with Fox forever and ever.

OK, most of that was just meaningless venting, but I am getting tired of having my chain jerked, and right now, in the middle of summer, sitting at my computer, boycotting network television doesn't sound all that un-doable.

I trust Fox, keep in mind that they did give us quality shows like Titus, Grounded for Life, The Chevy Chase Show, Normal, Ohio, Greg the Bunny...should I keep going, 'cause this can take all day?

Well, we all saw that coming. It's always the same with Fox.

Now we'll have to wait for the UK to air it so that we can get to see those last 2 episodes on the Internet.

And since they never got to produce the 13 episodes, we won't even get a DVD.
Maybe they could release The Inside and Drive together. A Tim Minear pack. That would be great.
I know I'm just dreaming...

I hope Minear is over with Fox once and for all. Maybe he should join Bryan Fuller in Pushing Daisies. They did a fantastic job together on Wonderfalls.

Bigstar - no one is saying Fox didn't at one time give us quality programing. I think it went downhill when they started The Simple Life. They quit doing as many quality programs and gave us reality trash. They do have a small handful of shows that are still quality that they didn't yank around and just take away, but for the most part, they don't seem to care about the viewing public. They aren't the only station whose quality has rapidly decreased, but they were the first. I have a hard time trusting Fox and that's been for the last 2 or 3 years. I looked up all those shows you mentioned and the last one ended in 2005, and I might be mistaken, please correct me if I am, but didn't Grounded For Life move over to The WB or UPN towards the end of it's run? Other than GFL, the other show on your list ended in 2002. Sorry this post is so long, I just had to share my feelings for Fox.

Have we heard anything more on the rumor that Nathan might be joining the cast of Desperate Housewives as the hubby of the Dana Delany character? I'd love to see Nathan every week. (And they'd make a cute TV couple.)

Update to my above post - Grounded For Life did move to The WB in 2003, which is why it ran for so long. Fox was done with it in 2002. That must have been the beginning of their downfall.

At least NBC is burning off episodes of Kidnapped at 2:00AM on Mondays. Why can't FOX do this?

Grounded for Life started over at the WB at the beginning of the 2002-2003 season. If not for the WB, it would have been toast. Instead, it ran three more years and is still fun to see in reruns.

Fox does not know good programming. That's the bottom line, plain and simple. They also don't care about viewer loyalty and satisfaction.

Sorry, Matt, but I have a feeling Summer Glau might be looking for work again before this time next year. I have no faith in Fox.

ranger99 - really? Is that 2am Monday as in after Sunday night? 'Cuz I'll tape 'em.

Someone needs to play the beginning of the Family Guy (the one where it came back after a couple of years) to the FOX big wigs, so they can have a refresher of the crap they put out that fails.

I did like Titus though! Stacey Keech was great in that and I know he really enjoyed doing it!

And I don't believe that a repeat of Bones will get better ratings than Drive would've Friday!

Consider this a gift from FOX, Drive sucked monkey balls!
