Fox to Send Secret Millionaire Undercover
Some of the nation's wealthiest people go under cover this fall on Fox. Secret Millionaire will send the privileged to spend time in some of the poorest neighborhoods in America.
They'll live and work alongside members of the community and those in need while pretending to be shooting a documentary.
On the last day of their experience, the secret millionaire will award a cash prize — more than $100,000 — to the person or group who has inspired them most.
The series — based on a British hit — is focused on engaging viewers in social issues and the value of volunteerism, while showing how the lives of the disadvantaged and the wealthy can change dramatically. — J.R. Whalen

why do the contestants have to be rich? if it were REALLY about helping americans in need, the contestants would come from all populations. THAT would show america that anyone can AND SHOULD give back to their community in some way. having it be millionaries makes it too much about the contestants' stories. and i hope they dont purposely cast controversial types who are egotistical, condescending, clueless, etc... the fact that it's FOX makes me assume they will go this route, which will be a disgrace. i can see them sending out c@cky guys and stupid, pretty girls. i can just envision a bunch of airheads walking through new orleans in heels, or jerky guys thinking THEY know about how to approach something...
and i dont like the "pretending to be shooting a documentary" deception. struggling americans have ENOUGH to worry about just getting through the day, i dont think this needs to be deceptive, just be open.
