Fox Says: Tricia Helfer Has (Battle)star Quality!

Fox has signed Battlestar Galactica beauty Tricia Helfer to a one-year talent holding deal, as part of which she will star in a series for the network, likely a drama.
Fox casting boss Marcia Shulman tells the Reporter that Helfer "wowed" the crowd last spring with her role in the passed-over sci-fi pilot Them. Later, upon spying Helfer in the indie Walk All Over Me, Shulman noted, "She had a pretty remarkable range, she showed vulnerability and strength. She is a star."
What's your take? Does Helfer have the goods to soar far beyond Battlestar? — MWM

She is so amazing! She can change a scene with one of the most subtle, yet so emotional, looks on her face, and of course we cant forget her continuous stellar range of acting!

She is awesome! She's really gotten to show her range as Gina, Six, Caprica, etc. Especially when as Gina she was chained up and tortured by Caine. WOW. Go girl!

Caprica Six could so easily be a one-note character. Tricia Helfer brings subtle, but effective, nuances to her performance - she's obviously not just another pretty face.

I guess the folks at Fox were the last to notice her range and incredible talent. BSG fans have been in awe of her abilities for years! I'm glad to see her getting recognition for her hard work and amazing potential.

Tricia Helfer is more than just a pretty (okay, beautiful) face. She demonstrates an nuanced emotional complexity to each scene that only a highly talented actor can muster. I would trust her with any role and I would watch her in any performance.

She has more talent to go along with her beauty than most pretty women on any of the network shows today. (Could you imagine her on Wisteria Lane? Someone who can actually act?) She had it from that first scene ever in "Battlestar Galactica". She is an actress that actually made you care about the guest star on "Supernatural" and that is no small feat. Congratulations to Ms. Helfer.
Joss, I think Ms. Helfer would be the perfect addition to any "Dollhouse"! I know you love your "BSG". At least let Grace Park audition for a part...she kind of has some decent chemistry on screen with one of your male leads.)

I have not seen one episode of Desperate Housewives but I'll go out on a limb by saying that any show that has featured Felicity Huffman, Dana Delaney, Alfre Woodard and Nathan Fillion has more than a few performers who can act a little...
I do agree Helfer does a fine job as Six and is likely to do well in other challenging parts.

You don't see many super models turn into excellent actress and Tricia has done just that. She really makes all the Sixes so deep. From Caprica, to Gina, to Mind Six. And next episode looks like we'll be seeing more of her range, which I'm incredibly excited for. Seriously, when I first saw promos and stuff for BSG, I thought she'd just be eye candy but she really is an excellent actress.
So name we have Tahmoh and Tricia on two new shows(both likely to air on Fox). I can't wait to see where Edward James Olomos, Mary McDonell, Jamie Callis, James Bamber, Grace Park and of course Katee Sackcoff go! You'll know people will want this cast, especially Eddie, Mary and Katee!

She's definitely shown her range on BSG. She even did well as a damsel in distress on Supernatural!
Congrats to her, definitely well deserved. Hopefully, Fox gives her a good project.

Every time I watch BSG I can't help but think that Helfer is an underrated actress. Imagine if Tricia Helfer wasn't as great as she is. Then BSG would have never had worked as well as it does. Ron Moore and David Eick put a lot of faith in her considering she had really never acted before the mini-series.
Tricia is so good that you can tell who Caprica Six is compared to the other blonde sixes just by the little subtle touches she adds to her facial expression and vocal tone.
I hope she finds success over at Fox.

Absolutely! Great news. She's both beautiful and extremely talented. I hope she lands a good show (that Fox doesn't cancel).

Oooh, how about a show with Tricia Helfer and Nathan Fillion?! That would rock. That is, if Nathan would give Fox another chance, after the network didn't give Drive much of a shot.

I strongly agree that she has real acting "chops". If I remember correctly, her previous experience was as a model, so I wasn't expecting much from her when the series started. Almost from the start she has been impressive and seems to handle well whatever they throw at her. There have been many "models" who turned out to be great actress, (Lauren Bacall for one), so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.
