Firefly's Nathan Fillion Might Land on Wisteria Lane

Fresh off Ausiello's scoopage that Dana Delany is in advanced talks to join Desperate Housewives — the very show she turned down back when it was in the pilot stage — comes word from the Hollywood Reporter that Nathan Fillion is being eyed to play the strapping, tight-pants-wearing younger husband of Delany's character (a wholesome, Bree-like Republican).

Lyndsy Fonseca (How I Met Your Mother) is in talks to play the new Wisteria Lane couple's hell-raising daughter. Yes, Fonseca was previously announced to have earned a recurring role on Heroes this season. Apparently she is empowered with the "ability" to juggle two A-list jobs. (Mohinder can fill you in on all the deets. Genome project, blah-blah.... )

Okay...I'm confused. Is she actually Bree's sister? Because Ausiello's story just made it sound like she's so similar to Bree that she could be mistaken for her sister. But now other places are reporting that the character really is her sister.

Good catch, somethingreal. I glimpsed at Oz's scoop quickly while typing this up, didn't see the crucial "could be." The item has been edited.

These new additions might FINALLY get me to start watching DH. Nathan in tight pants as a hottie younger husband? I'm so there!

Thanks for clearing that up, Matt. I wish Ausiello had been a little clearer in his article. I've already read at least one other site saying Delany will be Bree's sister and they even reported that on the radio this morning. I think a lot of people are misreading it.

Nathan should be headlining his own show, and one that is better quality than DH.

Add me to the list of people who feel Nathan Fillion deserves far better than DH. He needs his own show and one a network will back and support. He's fantastic!!

I do think Nathan deserves better. However, I watch DH, so I'm happy to hear that he will be on it. I love him so much!! If anything, I hope this, along with the success of Waitress this past spring (where he also played and OB/GYN!), helps Nathan get recognized by more people in the mainstream and gets him better gigs! He's the best, and if this helps other people to see that, then bring it on!!!

Serves me right. Just last week, I swear, I asked Michael on "Ask Ausiello" (even though he didn't have the foresight to actually POST it!) that since "Drive" had been cancelled and Nathan Fillion was TV series-free (yet again), could there be a ghost of a chance that maybe Joss Whedon might think about doing another "Serenity" movie or something else with the "Firefly" crew? Except for the loss of Ron Glass' character, if memory serves, everyone was still alive and kicking (although Morena Baccarin is sure busy these days, including co-starring this summer on TNT's "Heartland" with Treat Williams and the even busier Kari Matchett).

But "Housewives"?! Sure, it'd be great for his career, but such a come-down for his "cool" quotient. Nathan's been a bona-fide hero, especially to us sci-fi fans since Fox unforgivably let "FIrefly" die an unnatural death after airing only 11 of the original 13 episodes (at least Sci Fi Network gave us its due when it aired the entire run of repeats--plus the unaired episodes--just before "Serenity" opened in theaters in 2005).

We know you've gotta work, Nathan, but for heaven's sake, call Whedon and get "Firefly"/"Serentity" kick-started again to film during your hiatus after next season. When Gene Roddenberry initially envisioned "Star Trek" as a "wagon train to the stars," Joss Whedon delivered his vision: literally!

We lost more than just the preacher. Alan Tudyk's character "Wash" was also killed. He was the pilot that was married to Gina Torres' "Zoe". I loved his character.

Gosh. People should just be happy for an actor who has given them in the past roles they have loved. I mean I love love love Firefly and Serenity but the actors do need to work. And maybe his IT quotient will go up and then in a few years when they do a Serenity sequel it'll be a HUGE blockbuster.

In summary... think positively people!
