Finally, High School Musical: The Reality Series

How it took this long, I do not know. ABC is developing a reality competition based on Disney Channel's uberpopular High School Musical, Variety reports.

Eyeing a summer debut, the multi-episode series will launch with a nationwide talent hunt, followed by a chosen few honing their skills at a music conservatory. Wannabe Troys and Gabriellas will be eliminated each week until a winner (of what, that has yet TBD) is chosen. Appearances by kicking and screaming HSM stars are likely, says the trade.

Those kids have to graduate eventually. And sadly ABC/Disney would never let anything that profitable die. HSM is the new mouseketeers. I remember this experiment the first time when it was called Saved By The Bell: The New Class.

I can't think of anything worse, another crappy reality show or more god awful High School Musical, not everyone likes this crap.

Another reality show are you serious? This has got to be one of the stupidest things that has ever been imagined (created) are reality shows such as American Idol, America's next top Model, etc. WHY????

Oy, as much as I enjoyed High School Musical, this is really too much. It's already pretty bad that they made it into a concert, ice show, and god knows what else, but this is really low. If I were the stars of HSM, I wouldn't be caught dead with this. Just let schools do productions and leave it be. What are they doing this for, a remake? That's just plain silly even for Disney. It seems that for all the great ideas Disney has, they have so many more that are even more spectacularly bad.
