Family Awards Honor Numbers, Chris

CBS' Numbers and the CW's Everybody Hates Chris took top honors Wednesday at the eighth-annual Family Television Awards. Among the other winners: Dancing with the Stars (in the reality-show category), Ugly Betty (new series), Ghost Whisperer Jennifer Love Hewitt (for fostering early-onset puberty), Monk's Tony Shalhoub and Deal-maker Howie Mandel.

I love Numb3rs and am happy whenever it receives praise, but, I'm confused as to how it qualifies as a family program? My son is seven and I would never watch Numb3rs with him, because of the violence, which is the same reason that I would not watch Heroes with him. Granted, there is a great family dynamic on the show with Alan, Don and Charlie but still...

Isn't Numb3rs rated TV-14 just like Heroes?
