The Shield Finale: "It's What Vic Mackey Deserves"
Michael Chiklis and CCH Pounder in The Shield by Prashant Gupta/FX
What's going to happen on the series finale of The Shield? Beats me, but check out these merciless teases from the show's cast and creator:
"I was very concerned about ending it properly," says series creator Shawn Ryan. "To me, it feels like a graduation where you did well in school." Ryan tried to avoid writing an ending that departed radically from the show's essential character. "It will feel like The Shield," he says cryptically, mentioning that in preparation to end the crooked-cop drama, he studied the finales of shows that he admires, including The Sopranos' controversial fade to black.
"There will be no mixed reviews; you will get your money's worth," says David Marciano, who plays Det. Steve Billings, of the ending.
"I'm a chicken when I watch The Shield," says CCH Pounder, in direct contrast to her tough-as-nails character Det. Claudette Wyms. "But I think it's the greatest finale ever. This finale is what Vic Mackey deserves," she says with particular emphasis. "You will not see this [storyline] coming, but looking back, it will make sense," says star Michael Chiklis. "The Vic Mackey at the beginning of this season is a guy who has come to understand that there are consequences for him and for everyone around him. But you can't change the spots on a leopard."
Oooooooo, good teasing, guys! How do you think The Shield should end its seven-season run? What is it that you think Vic Mackey ultimately deserves? Do I hear a "Mackey, face down, in a pool of blood"?
The Shield returns to FX on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 10 pm/ET. — Mickey O'Connor

Man- I miss this show SO much! Thanks for the good update. I have no idea how it should end. I'm generally completely wrong anyway, so I'll just look forward to it.

I can't wait!!! Thanks so much for the airdate. I wouldn't even begin to try and guess on the ending. This show has done nothing but surprise and amaze me each and every season. I just learned to completely enjoy the ride. Did I mention I can't wait!!!!

Vic Mackey has to die or to fade away but he CANNOT go to jail. That ending would not be right!

This is total speculation on my part, but my best guess would be that Vic Mackey doesn't end up dead but he is confronted with incredible loss. I think him ending up dead would be a cop-out in a lot of ways. It should end with Corrine or Cassidy dying. I feel awful just typing those words, but given how Vic has treated his family over the seasons, it may just be what he deserves.

I really don't want Vic to die. I like him. I know he is corrupt and evil, but what can I say, I would hang out with him. I would also f....never mind. If anyone deserves to die, its slimy, creepy Shane. I would not spit on him if he was on fire. (Yes, I do realize they are just characters in a TV show.) I think a fitting end for Vic would be something happy, that is what he deserves. (Maybe he has been an undercover FBI all this time and everything he did is justified. Wouldn't that be a hoot!!!!

I haven't watched The Shield since the episode wheren Lemon was murdered, so I have no idea how many seasons I've missed. (Can anyone tell me, please?) I do have a spot in my heart for Vic, but I'm sure his end will not be a happy one. I think he will lose his family. I am, however, intrigued by the idea that he'd turn out to be a good guy, but that would be way out there, wouldn't it?

One of his confidential informants starts dating his daughter, which ticks off his ex-wife, who finds out about the money train heist and gets fed up and starts co-operating with internal affairs. Vic is convicted at trial and ends up in adminstrative segregation at Pelican Bay, where he starts writing his memoirs, with payments going to Corinne as his way of both trying to say he forgives her and wants make up for all that she had to put up with.

The great thing about Vic Mackey is that there IS some humanity under that corrupt-cop exterior, which is what makes this show so watchable. I don't think he deserves to die.
My guess is he'll probably end up killing Shane (who DOES deserve to die!!) and going on the lam with the Armenian mob $$, leaving his job and family behind. Dutch may be the only one who knows the truth.
BTW, I hope Dutch finally finds a decent woman. Can't wait until Sept. 2!!

In all reverence to the best two series' finales EVER, Vic's autistic son will awaken from a bad nightmare when we will discover he is not autistic after all, but that the whole series was a nightmare of his. When he goes to wake his parents, Vic Mackey will awaken in his old bed, on his old set of . . . "The Commish"!

Tooo funny.
I have no idea how it should end or how it will end. I only hope the final episode is as riveting and shocking as the first/pilot episode. Ten minutes into the first episode, I was hooked!
Like everyone else, I am sorry the show will end, but can't wait to see the ending!
